12 Travelers Killed in Cikampek Km 58 Toll Road Accident, Barzah Ambulance on Standby to Help

CIKAMPEK, WEST JAVA — On Monday (8/4/2024), there was a traffic accident on the Cikampek-Jakarta KM 58 Toll Road involving three vehicles that resulted in the deaths of 12 people. Now, the bodies of the victims are in the Forensic Room of Karawang Regional Hospital.

Through the Corpse Recovery Team (Barzah), Dompet Dhuafa’s Community Service Agency (LPM) immediately responded to the deadly incident. On that day, as a result of coordination with the police, the Barzah Team immediately sent one ambulance unit to Karawang Hospital.

LPM Dompet Dhuafa’s Barzah team was on standby at the Coroner’s Office, Karawang Regional Hospital, Karawang, West Java on Monday (8/4/2024).

The latest information from LPM Dompet Dhuafa, Police Medicine (DokPol) said that the body will be moved to the Kramat Jati Police Hospital, East Jakarta to undergo further identification of victims on Wednesday (10/5/2024) at 10:00 WIB.

The accident started when a Gran Max car was driving in the contra flow lane towards Cikampek and had a problem, so it tried to pull over to the shoulder of the road. Unfortunately, from the opposite direction there was a Primajasa Bus. Because of the suddenness, the bus could not avoid until it finally hit the Gran Max car. This caused the Gran Max to catch fire on the spot.

Unexpectedly, a Daihatsu Terios car appeared, which then hit the bus and Gran Max in front of it. Then the car caught fire. That day, the police closed the contra flow lane in the direction of Cikampek. (Dompet Dhuafa/LPM)
