CIANJUR, WEST JAVA — TPA Miftahuddiniyah (Quran Education Park), which was established in 1997, had to end up collapsing after an earthquake shook the Cianjur area in November 2022. Dozens of students and teachers were also struck down by the series of buildings, but all were able to escape through the roof of rubble despite being injured, thank God.
“Our houses and schools collapsed. But what I’m thinking about is the students, I don’t prioritize the house in the first place, the important thing is that the Madrasa (school) after the earthquake can be built again. It’s a pity that children can’t recite the Quran if there is no Madrasa,” said Ustazah Yuyun, one of the Quran Recitation Teachers of TPA Miftahuddiniyah when retelling the Cianjur Earthquake event to the Dompet Dhuafa Team, Friday (24/2/2023).
Then after the earthquake on the second day, the learning activities resumed at the request of the students. They want to continue to recite as a self-sedative, as well as to be a Trauma Healing. Although inside the refugee tent there are only Qurans and Iqro as it is from the remains of the ruins.

TPA Miftahuddiniyah never sets a fee for its students, it is just that sometimes there are parents of students who provide a little help or alms for the needs of the Madrasa. Currently, there are around 46 students studying at TPA Miftahuddiniyah, and to cover the needs of the school, usually Ustazah Yuyun and her husband open stalls or sell something online which they are currently engaged in.
“May Allah grant patience, sustenance to fix the house and to improve the Madrasa. The students are also more enthusiastic about learning and Allah will increase their faith,” she hoped.
If we think using our logic, how can Ustazah Yuyun live and support the needs of TPA Miftahuddiniyah with uncertain income? However, it is the help of Allah that always comes, so that He fulfills the needs of His servants when they are willing to be grateful.

A series of prayers and hopes are always offered by Ustazah Yuyun so that the people of Cianjur continue to rise, especially for TPA Miftahuddiniyah and its students. They showed a happy look when Dompet Dhuafa delivered the donors’ trust in the form of the Quran and worship tools to ignite their enthusiasm in carrying out the holy month of Ramadan 1444 H.
“In God willing, the Quran and these worship tools will be very useful for Ramadan activities here. May the kindness of donors be repaid by Allah, they’ll be given health always, and will be added sustenance, amen,” said Ustazah Yuyun, offering prayers for the donors.
Yes, until now the fate of Quran recitation teachers in Indonesia is still underestimated. Some get a small amount of honorary wages, some are not paid at all. Therefore, the assistance program for Guru Ngaji (Quran recitation teachers) will be distributed in the form of Pocket Money (monthly wages for each Guru Ngaji), Basic Food (to meet the food needs of Guru Ngaji), Awards (for the dedication of Guru Ngaji), Business Capital (in addition to teaching, it is expected that they can be empowered and independent).
