BANTEN — Raising sheep and goats (Domba & Kambing/Doka) is not just a side activity. This activity often becomes the primary livelihood to meet the family’s needs. However, even though it plays an important role, the management of Doka farms by the community is still carried out as it is. So, the productivity of the goat farms they manage is not yet optimized.
Based on this fact, YBM PLN took the initiative to partner with Dompet Dhuafa to organize livestock training for farmers who need capacity building in expanding their network and cooperation partners in sheep and goat farming. DD Farm (Dompet Dhuafa Farm) is a livestock center program combined with the edufarm concept, which will be developed into a livestock learning center for the community.
The livestock training was held for 4 (four) days from 26 – 29 September 2022, located at Dompet Dhuafa Farm Banten Kp. Gowok Kepuh, Sukajaya, Curug District, Serang City, Banten. The material presented during the training included goat farming business plans, breeding, sustainability of animal husbandry, cage management, and selection of candidates to practice making farm feed. A total of 9 (nine) participants from the recommendations of the PLN YBM team and Dompet Dhuafa, attended this training intensively from the first day to completion.
Agus Salim, Marketing of DD Farm, expressed his appreciation for the excellent collaboration from YBM PLN so that it can benefit farmers in the community. Agus also hopes that the participants can practice their knowledge from DD Farm training.
“Hopefully, DD Farm can continue to be a learning reference for farmers so that we can jointly expand our network and become sovereign livestock entrepreneurs and benefit the wider community, Aamiin,” said Agus.
Salman Al Farisi, Deputy Director I of YBM PLN, also explained, “This is one of YBM PLN’s efforts in exploring the benefits of distributing zakat funds to YBM PLN Muzakki. Hopefully, the breeders who participate in this training can add their knowledge so that their status can also change from mustahik to Muzakki according to the vision of YBM PLN”.
