  1. How to Love Orphans by Doing Good

Based on the words of Allah SWT above, we must do good to orphans. We should have a sense of sharing with orphans. Encouragement to share affection can be in the form of providing compensation, food, and even considering orphans, not one eye. How Allah SWT exalts His servants who do good to orphans.   1. Don’t Be Arbitrary

Allah Subhanahu wa Ta’ala said: فَاَمَّا الْيَتِيْمَ فَلَا تَقْهَرْۗ “Toward orphans, thou shalt not be arbitrary.” (Q.S Aḍ-Ḍuḥā [93]:9)

Just as Islam glorifies orphans, we should not mistreat orphans. We are encouraged to spread kindness and compassion. If there are orphans, they must not despise them, berate them, and do despicable deeds. Although they are orphans, it must not make them sad. They are already heavy enough with their lives, so they are not allowed to commit arbitrary acts. It would be better for us to embrace orphans and care for them.  

  1. Love orphans by feeding

Allah Subhanahu wa Ta’ala said: وَيُطْعِمُوْنَ الطَّعَامَ عَلٰى حُبِّهٖ مِسْكِيْنًا وَّيَتِيْمًا وَّاَسِيْرًا “They gave the food they liked to the poor, orphans, and captives.” (Al-Insān [76]:8) 

Allah SWT reminds His servants always to share sustenance with orphans in the form of food. As with the nutritious food we eat, it would be better to share nutritious food with orphans. Allah SWT certainly gave this command so that we are always grateful and teach the meaning of sharing. Isn’t sharing food with orphans not reducing our property? In fact, Allah SWT will replace it many times over with good rewards.

  1. How to Love Orphans by Improving Their Situation for the Better

Allah SWT invites His people to compete to do good to orphans. As in the word of Allah QS. Al-Baqarah [2]:220, i.e. “about the world and the Hereafter. They ask you (Prophet Muhammad) about orphans. Say, “Improving their situation is good.”

Seeing the condition of orphans who have lost their father’s affection because they have died, not to mention economic constraints, it is natural that we flock to prosper the lives of orphans. Improving the condition of orphans is better in giving love they have not received so far, providing educational facilities, and providing compensation to them. Allah Almighty loves orphans very much. May we be able to improve the situation and improve the welfare of orphans.

  1. No Rebuke of Orphans

In Surah Al-Maun Allah (swt) says, “Do you know (people) who deny religion? Then that’s the man who rebukes the orphans.'” (QS. Al Ma’un [107]:1-2) 

The meaning of rebuking orphans is yelling at orphans or being rude. As Muslims it is not permissible to yell at orphans and make their hearts ache with our deeds. Prophet Muhammad SAW also often exemplified having to do good, polite, and love orphans. How to love orphans by being polite and not rebuking them is an attitude that we need to apply. Do not let us be considered as denying religion by Allah SWT because we rebuke orphans.

The Virtue of Loving Orphans

Seeing the various verses of the Qur’an that always glorify orphans, we must practice the contents of these verses. Allah Almighty really urges His people to care for orphans.
