JAKARTA — The genocide in Palestine has moved the students of Prof Dr Moestopo University to take action. Through the Voice for Humanity Vol. 8 event with the theme ‘Alerta Palestine!’ on Friday (27/09/2024), they managed to raise IDR 5,883,500 to help the victims of genocide in the region.
The activity organised by the UPDMB FIKOM Student Senate together with Under Moestopo Ground was not only a fundraising event, but also an effort to raise public awareness about humanitarian issues in Palestine. Students were actively involved in various activities, ranging from music performances, live painting, bazaars, to public discussions, which aimed to attract various groups of people.
One of the highlights was the collaboration between the students and Dompet Dhuafa, a humanitarian organisation with proven credibility. This collaboration ensures that the donations collected will be used effectively and on target. The donation was handed over to Dompet Dhuafa on Tuesday (01/10/24).
‘This is no longer a religious and political issue, but a humanitarian issue,’ said Ricko Sandi as the Chief Executive of Voice For Humanity Vol.8. when handing over the donation to Dompet Dhuafa.
‘After searching for information, we finally decided to collaborate with Dompet Dhuafa as a charity partner in distributing humanitarian programmes for Palestine. This is because Dompet Dhuafa is a pioneer humanitarian organisation and has proven its credibility,’ said Ricko.
Voice For Humanity Vol. 8 is not just a momentary event, but also the first step in the students’ efforts to continue voicing the Palestinian issue. This activity provided valuable learning for the participants, both in terms of knowledge about the conflict in Palestine and organisational skills.
In addition, this activity also inspires other students to get involved in humanitarian efforts. The inspiring stories of the students involved can be a motivation for many to take action.
However, to ensure the sustainability of these efforts, there needs to be wider support from the community, government, and related institutions. Together, we can provide greater assistance to the victims of the conflict in Palestine and help realise peace in the region.

‘I am certainly happy and grateful today to be able to meet and discuss with the students of Prof Dr Moestopo University, what you have done is very cool. Inviting other students to be directly involved in voicing humanitarian issues. I hope this kind of activity does not end here, there will be a continuation,’ Yudha concluded.
Let us continue to raise our voices on the Palestinian issue and provide tangible support for those in need. Every small action can have a big impact on the lives of the people there. (Dompet Dhuafa)
