SOUTH TANGERANG —In a remarkable achievement at the Indonesia Fundraising Award (IFA) 2023, Dompet Dhuafa has once again stood out by clinching 11 awards. The event, organized by the Indonesia Fundraising Institute (IFI) on Wednesday (13/12/2023), marked the fourth year of celebrating excellence in fundraising across the nation.
Dompet Dhuafa was honored in the following categories at IFA 2023:
- Support Institution for the Fundraising Movement (5 Stars)
- Best Qurban Fundraising (5 Stars)
- Best Productive Waqf Fundraising (5 Stars)
- Best Fundraiser (5 Stars)
- Best Humanitarian Fundraising (4 Stars)
- Best Fundraising Event (4 Stars)
- Best Fundraising Innovation (3 Stars)
- Best Zakat Fundraising (3 Stars)
- Best International Fundraising (3 Stars)
- Best Social Waqf Program Fundraising (3 Stars)

Since its inception in 1993, Dompet Dhuafa has significantly contributed to the fields of fundraising and philanthropy. Over 30 years, the organization has demonstrated continuous innovation and adaptation, particularly in fund collection and distribution. This year, Dompet Dhuafa notably secured one of the two newly introduced award categories, Best Fundraising Event.
The IFA 2023 ceremony, held at the Azhar Basyir Building of Muhammadiyah University of Jakarta, saw participation from 63 institutions competing in 39 categories. These categories recognized both individual and institutional achievements, extending to the Southeast Asian level. Ahmad Faqih Syarafaddin, GM of ZIS Collection at Dompet Dhuafa, distinguished himself by winning the Best Fundraiser category.
Ahmad Faqih lauded IFI’s consistent organization of the awards, attributing Dompet Dhuafa’s success to the collective effort of its amil, who strive for growth and innovation in the face of contemporary challenges. He emphasized that the primary contributors to these accolades are the mustahik and muzaki, the core stakeholders of Dompet Dhuafa’s activities.

The selection of winners was a rigorous three-month process, conducted by a jury proficient in fundraising and philanthropy. This included direct audits to assess the effectiveness and growth of each institution’s fundraising programs, ensuring a fair and accurate evaluation.
Arifin Purwakananta, the Advisory Board of IFI, highlighted in his speech the vital role of civil society organizations, including zakat and waqf institutions and NGOs, in supporting national development. He congratulated the awardees for their pivotal role in strengthening Indonesia’s civil society sector, emphasizing that the continued efforts of fundraisers and independent institutions are crucial for showcasing civil society’s contributions to building a better nation.(Dompet Dhuafa/Muthohar)
