BOGOR, WEST JAVA — The Empowerment Program of Majelis Taklim Ummahat (PMTU) of Dompet Dhuafa’s Community Service Institute (LPM) continues to expand its work in bridging goodness for many beneficiaries. On Wednesday & Thursday (10-11/12/2024), LPM Dompet Dhuafa held a Capacity Building for PMTU partners and beneficiaries which was attended by 60 mothers from various regions in Jabodetabek.
PMTU is a program initiated by Dompet Dhuafa through zakat funds, with the aim of providing business capital assistance to the congregation of Majelis Taklim Ummahat to increase the income of beneficiary families. Both economically and knowledgeably, through family economic training provided to each participant.
At this event, various training materials were delivered by practitioners and lecturers, including the urgency of halal certification, strengthening social groups in business, cooperative management, and digital marketing branding. The PMTU program not only provides capital assistance to the women of the Majelis taklim congregation, but also empowers them to do business independently without relying on usury or loan sharks.
Euis Koriyah (55) from Majelis Taklim Munajiah, Putat Butuh, Ciseeng, is one of the congregants who benefited from the PMTU Program. She admitted that she was greatly helped by the PMTU Program.
“With this program and training, I am very grateful to be able to learn a lot. Thank you to Dompet Dhuafa donors who have provided capital and enthusiasm for our business as members of the taklim assembly. Hopefully it can be more blessed and useful in the future,” she said.
Furthermore, Euis said that the ongoing empowerment program encourages mothers to be productive and independent.
“We bring processed catfish products ranging from meat, skin, usually we also bring shredded catfish bones. We only became active again 3 years ago during the pandemic. Because it was difficult, we finally gathered again to make this and sell it,” she said.
The event was opened by Ahmad Shonhaji, Director of Dompet Dhuafa’s Social, Humanitarian & Dakwah Program, who was present to give a speech and appreciation to the women of majelis taklim. He expressed his support for their enthusiasm in trying and being empowered, as well as the importance of the role of majelis taklim in empowering the family and community economy.
“LPM through the PMTU program carried out this year, thank God, more than 20 products have been produced from the empowerment of majelis taklim throughout Jabodetabek. Hopefully this program will be more blessed and useful, empowering the majelis taklim, empowering the congregation,” he concluded.
