SUMEDANG, WEST JAVA — At the end of 2023, Indonesia was hit by various disasters. From floods, landslides, volcanic eruptions, to earthquakes, one earthquake that sticks in the mind is the Sumedang Earthquake. The reason is, this earthquake occurred before the new year 2024 and occurred three times, and was felt by people in some cities in West Java and DKI Jakarta. This event also did not escape the attention of BTS ARMY Indonesia.
But as Allah Swt says in the Qur’an, ‘after hardship there is ease’. Alhamdulillah, solidarity from various parties flowed for the people of Sumedang, until it was unstoppable. One of them came from the BTS ARMY Indonesia community. By collaborating with Dompet Dhuafa, BTS ARMY Indonesia worked together to help ease the burden felt by the Sumedang Earthquake survivors.
In this solidarity action, BTS ARMY Indonesia and Dompet Dhuafa played an active role in providing assistance in the form of basic food packages for residents affected by the earthquake. The distribution of aid carried out on Saturday (9/3/2024) is part of the recovery efforts of the survivors of the earthquake that occurred several months ago. This action from fans of the idol group from South Korea also confirms that kindness knows no boundaries.

The aid distribution process was carried out by the Dompet Dhuafa Disaster Management Centre (DMC) Team in Rancamulya Village, North Sumedang District, Sumedang Regency. Located at the Rancamulya Village Office, the Dompet Dhuafa DMC Team distributed basic food packages to residents affected by the Sumedang Earthquake as beneficiaries.
The food packages contain various basic necessities such as rice, cooking oil, instant noodles, sugar, and canned food, which can help the community, especially in welcoming the holy month of Ramadan 1445 AH.
‘On behalf of the residents of Rancamulya RW 04 Village, I would like to express my deepest gratitude to the donors. Especially Dompet Dhuafa and BTS ARMY Indonesia who have provided assistance to us who were affected by the Sumedang Earthquake. Thank you for your help. Hopefully what has been given will be rewarded and useful for us,’ said Cucu Mulyati, one of the beneficiaries.

The collaboration between Dompet Dhuafa and BTS ARMY Indonesia not only provides material assistance to survivors, but is also a tangible proof of the strength of solidarity and strong social care in society.
‘This assistance is a collective of Sahabat Baik towards the survivors of the Sumedang Earthquake that occurred in the past few months. This assistance is also one of our efforts, DMC Dompet Dhuafa in assisting post-earthquake recovery. So that affected communities can immediately recover from previous disaster conditions,’ explained Narwan as DMC Dompet Dhuafa’s Emergency Response, Recovery and Volunteerism Manager.
‘We also use this moment as a gathering effort to welcome the holy month of Ramadan 1445 H this year. The assistance distributed is a record of the goal that the disasters that occurred in the past few months remain our concentration for DMC Dompet Dhuafa in handling disasters,’ he continued.
This step provides new hope and strength for Sumedang Earthquake survivors to get back on their feet and start the recovery process with renewed vigour. With the support of the collaboration between Dompet Dhuafa and BTS ARMY Indonesia, they not only received material assistance, but also felt the touch of deep social care. The solidarity that exists not only lifts their spirits, but also unites the community in facing trials together.
