TURKIYE — The cold weather that hit Turkiye made the conditions of earthquake victims even more difficult. Their basic needs are now not only about food, but also the needs of boards such as blankets and warm and decent housing.
Jovan Pradana, a Dompet Dhuafa volunteer in Turkiye reported that currently, the refugees, especially refugees in Antakya, Hatay Province, really need shoes and socks. This is because the weather in Turkiye is very cold. In fact, up to next week, it is predicted that the temperature in Turkiye can reach 1 degree Celsius.
“For this (refugee) place, what they need is shoes and socks, because they feel cold,” said Jovan Pradana.

Previously, Dompet Dhuafa volunteers were seen distributing blankets to refugees in Antakya, Hatay, Turkiye. Blankets become an important item needed by the refugees, because they live in makeshift tents without heating. The refugees only have their privately owned warm clothes left to warm themselves and survive the cold.
Based on on-the-ground monitoring, earthquake survivors set up simple makeshift tents with only fabric materials. In fact, truck containers were transformed into temporary shelters for survivors. It should be noted that Antakya became one of the worst locations affected by the earthquake, almost 80 percent of the buildings there were destroyed by the earthquake.

In addition to blankets, Dompet Dhuafa volunteers through Dompet Dhuafa’s Disaster Management Center (DMC) command have also distributed 100 food packages for earthquake survivors in Turkiye.
“We distributed approximately 100 food packages in two earthquake-affected districts,” said Jovan Pradana when reporting the latest situation at the disaster site.
