NORTH SUMATRA — Bank Indonesia (BI) North Sumatra Province launched the Dhuafa Hope Sewing Program with Dompet Dhuafa Waspada at the BI Representative Office of North Sumatra Province, Tuesday (10/12/2024).
The program was attended by 40 selected beneficiaries from four points, namely Medan Kota, Medan Belawan, Binjai, and Deli Serdang.
On that occasion, BI North Sumatra Representative Office Manager, Fika Habbina, explained that this program is part of Bank Indonesia’s social program.
“This sewing program is a Bank Indonesia Social Program (PSBI) which is also one of the pillars of community economic empowerment in the hope that it can improve the community’s economy,” she explained.

On the other hand, Dompet Dhuafa Waspada Branch Manager, Sulaiman, said that the beneficiaries were first selected to be committed to running the program.
“The beneficiaries today are selected people, so we hope that the mothers will seriously participate in this program until later they can open a sewing business and can lift the family economy,” he said.
With the distribution of different areas, the trainers will later be deployed to each location to train program beneficiaries.
“So for the next three months, Dompet Dhuafa Waspada as the program implementer will assist this sewing training program until they can sew,” said Sulaiman.
To Bank Indonesia, Sulaiman also expressed his gratitude for the synergy that runs for the poor.
“It doesn’t feel like 10 years of entering cooperation with Bank Indonesia that has been established with Dompet Dhuafa Waspada. Hopefully, this cooperation can be maintained to jointly bring benefits to the people,” he hoped.
With the launch of the Harapan Dhuafa Sewing Program, the training program officially runs by also providing capital to each beneficiary in the form of sewing machines, complete sewing equipment, business signs, training and program assistance. (Dompet Dhuafa)
