WEST SERAM, MALUKU – Indonesian musician Is Pusakata together with Dompet Dhuafa raised funds for the renovation of a school building in Taman Sejarah Hamlet, Nuniali Village, Huamual Belakang Sub-District, West Seram Regency, Maluku. The fundraising took place for five days, from Wednesday (2/21/2024) to Sunday (2/25/2024).
This is not the first time for Is Pusakata to hold a social movement themed “Sisir Kota Pesisir”. Previously, he had done it in several places. Not only echoing kindness, through this action Is also created works. With the hope that the results can be returned to the people in need.
Pusakata, as one of the initiators of the movement, invited donations through a mini concert. In addition, he also auctioned t-shirts for donations at a price of one million rupiah per piece. In this “Sisir Kota Pesisir”, Pusakata plans to open donations for the next six months until the repair of the school building is completed.
“Anyone who comes (to the mini concert) can make a donation according to their ability, for school repairs. ‘Sisir Kota Pesisir’ will exist until I die. If the school is already good, we will move it to another school in need,” said the man whose full name is M. Istiqamah Jamad.
The school in question is Madrasah Tsanawiyah (MTs) Nahdatul Ulama, which stands on community grant land. There are 60 students studying in an inadequate school building: wooden walls, a lack of benches and only three classes and one teacher’s office.
They participated in a series of volunteering agendas with local children, including Sehari Menjadi Guru, Waste Audit with The Mulung Community, and Free Health Tests with TBM (Taman Baca Masyarakat) Vertebrae Pattimura University Community. On the same day, Thursday (22/2/2023) evening, Is Pusakata also held a mini concert followed by a donation handover and a workshop with local residents.
Nabila Ishma also enlivened “Sisir Kota Pesisir” with a discussion on education equality. For her, there are still many schools in remote areas that do not have adequate school facilities. She also invited the public to help realize the dreams of remote children by donating through the Dompet Dhuafa Application or DD Apps.
“We as more fortunate people can join hands and help realize their dreams together. The donations collected have been used to procure benches and books. However, we are still opening donations as widely as possible,” he said.
Agreeing with Nabila, Ican was also concerned about the inadequate condition of the school. He said, it should not only be limited to donations that can be given. Rather, meaningful emotional support for the children in Taman Sejarah Hamlet.

“After seeing the condition of the school, I immediately thought, where have I been all this time? Even though the location of the school is still one place with the place where I adventured. I thank Dompet Dhuafa for inviting me. I think it should not only be limited to donations that we can give, but also support for children, “said Ican emotionally.
Dedi Fadlil as Dompet Dhuafa’s Creative Content Manager said that his party did not set a certain target for school repair donations.
“There is no limit, but for schools in Waisala, Taman Sejarah, the minimum is 150 million rupiah,” he concluded. (Dompet Dhuafa)
