BOGOR, WEST JAVA — The International Day of Persons with Disabilities, commemorated every December 3rd, serves as a moment to foster collective awareness. This observance fosters a more inclusive and understanding global perspective towards persons with disabilities.
In commemorating the International Day of Persons with Disabilities, Dompet Dhuafa, through its Community Service Institution (LPM), organized the “Stage of Art & Great Children’s Work” on Saturday (9/12/2023), at AEON MALL Sentul City, Bogor. The event invited 10 Special Schools (SLB) from the Greater Jakarta area to showcase the talents and works of their students.
Kamaludin, the Head of Dompet Dhuafa’s Humanesia Program, explained that this activity aligns with the program’s slogan, “Nurturing Kindness, Because We All Matter.”
“Organizing this event demonstrates our concern for our brothers and sisters with disabilities, highlighting that supporting them is an integral part of our humanitarian efforts. It’s to ensure that the community is aware, involved, and embraces acts of kindness. Thus, persons with disabilities can feel honored, appreciated, equal, and not discriminated against,” he elaborated.
On the art stage, the children performed various shows, ranging from singing and dancing to pantomime. Besides the main stage, the event also featured a coloring spot and various exhibitions of the participants’ works, including paintings, salted eggs, brooches, decorative flower creations, and other crafts.
Fathia Irhami, a Content Creator, also witnessed the talents and works of the event participants.

“Children with special needs also have unique abilities. I saw their works, and despite their limitations, they can create something extraordinary,” she commented.
The event was also enjoyed by the attending participants. One of them, Ibnu and his friends from SLB Alfiany, Cengkareng, expressed their happiness for performing at the “Stage of Art & Great Children’s Work” that day.
“We spent a week preparing for our performance. It’s been wonderful meeting other talented friends and learning from each other. I believe in embracing new challenges to build confidence and skills,” he reflected.(Dompet Dhuafa/LPM)
