BANTEN – In commemoration of the Mawlid of Prophet Muhammad, the Community Service Institution (Lembaga Pelayan Masyarakat – LPM) of Dompet Dhuafa organized a Grand Tabligh and Tattoo Removal event at the Class IIA Cilegon Correctional Facility on Thursday (19/10/2023). The event began with istighosah (a form of Islamic prayer) and the recitation of salawat (blessings upon the Prophet), followed by speeches, religious talks, a talk show, and the Tattoo Removal Service.
In another location, Moh. Noor Awaluddin Asjhar, the Head of LPM Dompet Dhuafa, stated that this activity is part of the community service programs offered by LPM Dompet Dhuafa. The goal is for the inmates to strengthen their faith, enhance their worship practices, and confidently embark on a journey of personal improvement.
“The commemoration of the Mawlid of Prophet Muhammad and the Tattoo Removal Service are designed to help the inmates strengthen their faith, enhance their worship, and become better individuals,” he explained.

Enjat Lukmanul Hakim, Bc.I.P, S.H., M. AP., the Head of the Class IIA Cilegon Correctional Facility, warmly welcomed the event. According to Enjat, this activity is a form of personality development for the inmates, aligning with the efforts of the Class IIA Cilegon Correctional Facility in mentally preparing inmates for various subsequent rehabilitation activities.
“I hope that in the future, collaborations and activities like this can increase in frequency and scope. I also hope that the inmates will develop a better mentality and attitude for their eventual reintegration into society,” he said.
During the Grand Tabligh, Ustaz Herman Budianto, GM of Environment, Da’wah, and Culture at Dompet Dhuafa, delivered a sermon on emulating the character of Prophet Muhammad. He encouraged the inmates to regularly recite salawat, increase their worship, and surrender and ask only from Allah. This sermon was attentively followed by 200 inmates, 50 of whom participated in the Tattoo Removal program.

After the sermon, a talk show was held with Bang Cupink Topan, who shared his experiences with the inmates about his struggle to maintain faith while working in the entertainment industry. He discussed his efforts to remain steadfast in worship. Following this, Bang Cupink Topan observed the enthusiasm of the inmates participating in the Tattoo Removal activity. He believes this activity is noble for them to transition and improve their worship practices.
Mr. Nunu (57), one of the inmates participating in the Tattoo Removal program, expressed happiness at being able to participate. He revealed that he had tattoos since around the 1970s and was pleased to have the opportunity for their removal, as he wants to improve and perfect his worship.
“I’ve had these tattoos since the 70s, so the ink is different. I wanted to have them removed to make my worship more perfect,” he concluded. (Dompet Dhuafa/LPM/Muthohar)
