SOUTH KOREA – As a preacher, da’wah trips are an integral part of daily life. However, among the challenges of official da’wah duties, there are rare moments when Dompet Dhuafa’s Dai Ambassadors can experience the natural beauty and cultural richness of the Gingseng Country. Recently, Ustaz Ihya Ulumudin, Dompet Dhuafa’s Dai Ambassador stationed in South Korea with grace and wisdom, had a unique opportunity to explore the fruit paradise of South Korea.

The first fruit presented to the dai was strawberries. With the softness of spring, the bright red fruit symbolises the fresh vigour that spring welcomes in South Korea. Its fresh quality and delicate sweetness immediately captivated the preacher’s palate. In the midst of an important da’wah safari, the South Korean strawberries were able to bring invaluable joy. However, this experience is not over yet.

The dai was then introduced to one of South Korea’s most revered fruits, the durian. Although not as popular as in Southeast Asian countries, Korean durian has unique characteristics that make it worth savouring. With its soft texture and rich flavour, Korean durian was a great experience for Ustaz Ihya. Despite its strong aroma, the fruit’s distinctive flavour enriched Ustaz Ihya’s gastronomic experience. It also reminded him that diversity is a strength that should be celebrated.

Not stopping there, the South Korean Dai Ambassador’s culinary journey continued with local wine. With wine quality renowned worldwide, South Korea has set a high standard for wine. The crisp sweetness and refreshing touch of sourness make Korean wines unrivalled. Ustaz Ihya admiringly tasted each fruit, appreciating the hard work of local farmers, and the natural beauty of Korea that allows these fruits to flourish.

Apart from providing an unforgettable sensory experience, the trip was also an opportunity for the preacher to better understand the culture and natural richness of South Korea. Behind the beauty of the fruits savoured, there are stories about the hard work of local farmers, the unique climate, and the long tradition attached to every bite.

As preachers, understanding and appreciating the cultural heritage of the countries they visit is an integral task. With this trip, Ustaz Ihya not only enjoyed the amazing fruits, but also enriched his da’wah experience. In moments like these, deeper connections are made between countries, where natural beauty and cultural richness become bridges that connect people from different parts of the world.
