DMC Dompet Dhuafa Evacuates Flood and Landslide Victims in Parepare City

PAREPARE, SOUTH SULAWESI – Disaster Management Center (DMC) and Dompet Dhuafa South Sulawesi, together with joint volunteers, evacuated two victims affected by floods and landslides in Parepare City, South Sulawesi.

It is known that the first victim was a woman with the initials F (35) and the second victim was a man with the initials R (50). The two victims were found in Lapadde Sub-district, Ujung Kota District, Parepare City.

“Alhamdulillah, we received a report that a team with joint volunteers managed to evacuate two victims affected by floods and landslides in Parepare City. Hopefully, the victims will be accepted by His side and husnulkhatimah.” said Haryo Mojopahit, Chief Executive of DMC Dompet Dhuafa.

The two victims were found on Thursday (2/2/2023) morning, at 07.55 WITA in a state of death. Based on reports of volunteers at the site, there is one more victim who is currently still in the process of searching.

Heavy rainfall accompanied by strong winds causes floods and landslides in the Parepare City area. Based on the report received by the Dompet Dhuafa team, four villages were flooded, namely Lumpue Village, Watang Bacukiki Village, Lapadde Village, and Lemo Village. Meanwhile, the landslide disaster occurred in the Cappa Galung and Kampung Baru Villages, West Bacukiki District, Parepare City.
