DMC Mobilizes Aceh Tamiang Flash Flood Emergency Response Team

ACEH TAMIANG — The Aceh Disaster Management Agency (BPBA) reported that 138 villages in 12 sub-districts in Aceh Tamiang were flooded, and 23,380 people were displaced by the flash flood. In addition, access to the Aceh-North Sumatra national road was cut off.

It was recorded that 12 sub-districts were flooded, including: Bandar Pusaka, Sekerak, Kuala Simpang City, Tenggulun, Tamiang Hulu, Bendahara, Kejuruan Muda, Seruway, Karang Baru, Mayak Payed, Rantau, and Banda Mulia.

Meanwhile, the Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) of Southeast Aceh Regency explained that the flash flood that occurred on Tuesday (01/11/2022) also claimed the lives of 2 (two) residents of Rambung Jaya Village, Darul Hasanah District, namely Samine (55) and her daughter Siah Indah (15).

“The flood occurred at 10 p.m., at that time most people were already asleep. Samine and her child were swept away by mud and wood. The flood caused 189 houses damaged, 47 units were severely damaged and submerged 32 villages,” said the Head of BPBD Southeast Aceh, Nazmi Desky, Friday (04/11/2022), as reported by Mongabay.

Dompet Dhuafa through its Aceh branch and Disaster Management Center (DMC) provided emergency response services starting from establishing a Public Kitchen and distributing logistics right in Alur Manis Village, Rantau District, Aceh Tamiang Regency.

Dompet Dhuafa Aceh Branch Manager, Rizki Fauzan, stated that the Dompet Dhuafa team had been present since early November 2022 to carry out emergency response services in Aceh Tamiang Regency and Southeast Aceh Regency.

“For the Aceh Tamiang Regency area itself, Dompet Dhuafa has opened a Warm Post in Kampung Durian Village, Rantau District with a total of 39 families or around 110 people. Then opened a Public Kitchen and distribution of logistics & drinking water in Alur Manis Village, Rantau District with a total beneficiary of 536 families or around 1,600 people. While in Southeast Aceh Regency, the team distributed 230 packages of ready-to-eat food in Darul Hasanah District,” Rizki explained.

On Tuesday (08/11/2022), Dompet Dhuafa Aceh through DMC Dompet Dhuafa sent additional personnel to help handle emergency response in Aceh.
