Dompet Dhuafa and Agrinesia Raya Present Madina Bakery, an Empowerment Innovation Based on Zakat Preneurship

WEST JAVA – Dompet Dhuafa together with PT Agrinesia Raya officially launched a new culinary product called Madina Bakery on Monday (23/12/2024). The launch took place at the Madina Zone, an integrated zakat, infaq, sadaqah, and waqf (Ziswaf) area in Parung, Bogor, which is a miniature of various Dompet Dhuafa programs.

Agrinesia as a company that produces Nusantara specialties, also focuses on community empowerment. Consistently since 2021, Agrinesia has channeled its corporate zakat every year through Dompet Dhuafa. The implementation of zakat is realized in the form of education and economic empowerment programs. One form of distribution in the economic program is by presenting Madina Bakery.

Madina Bakery is part of the economic empowerment program in the Madina Zone, especially food products, which presents a variety of Indonesian culinary choices and snacks produced by the local community. Madina Bakery is also designed as a complement to Madaya Coffee, a coffee shop in Madina Zone that has been present as a community economic empowerment program.

Ana Rahmawati, Director of Economic Empowerment of Dompet Dhuafa, in her speech explained that the economic sector in this area has long been developing on a community basis. With significant developments, the various programs are now managed in an integrated manner under the auspices of the Madina Zone.

“We see great potential in community-based economic empowerment. With the presence of Madina Bakery, we want to add culinary variations while providing wider benefits through the integration of empowerment programs in Zona Madina,” said Ana

She added that the Madina Zone has included various educational programs, from high school to college level. Then there are hospitals, mosques, cultural programs, and economic empowerment based on the surrounding community. The presence of Madina Bakery can complement the culinary variety in the Madina Zone.

Nanang also added that Agrinesia is committed to supporting the development of MSMEs. So it does not rule out the possibility that Agrinesia can also help Madina Bakery to develop further, through training programs and sharing experiences and knowledge with Agrinesia.

“With the concept of entrepreneurship, I am sure that these economic programs can be developed whose benefits are not only at the beginning, but are sustainable. This is also what Agrinesia has done,” Nanang added.

With the concept of sustainable entrepreneurship, the collaboration between Dompet Dhuafa and Agrinesia is expected to bring long-term benefits, both for the community around the Madina Zone and the community-based economic sector in general.

Madina Bakery is now present as a culinary option that further enriches the experience in the Madina Zone, especially when enjoyed with Madaya Coffee, a coffee product derived from coffee beans from farmers assisted by Dompet Dhuafa.

Madina Bakery is the implementation of productive zakat from Zakat Agrinesia company. The employees of Madina Bakery are the beneficiaries. They are four people from among those who are entitled to receive zakat.

One of them is Renaldi Ayudhia (30), from Parung. He has a wife and a child who is still in school. He said that he and his three colleagues were trained for about two months before Madina Bakery was officially opened on December 23, 2024.

First, the prospective employees received training in bakery making by Donat Madu Cihanjuang for three days in Bogor. After that, they began to apply it at Madina Bakery while waiting for halal certification. In addition, Madina Bakery also conducts food tests to many culinary activists and bakery practitioners.

“After everything was deemed to have met the expected quality and halal certification had been obtained, Madina Bakery was finally inaugurated,” explained Renaldi, Monday (23/12/2024), at the Madina Zone, Parung, Bogor.

Zona Madina, as an integration area, also presents various other programs, such as education, health services, cultural empowerment, and mosques as centers of religious activity.
