JAKARTA — Packaged in the form of reflections and cultural arts performances with the mission of applying noble leadership values, Dompet Dhuafa and Bina Trubus Swadaya again held the 4th Cultural Discussion Group Forum (FGD) entitled “Prophetic Leadership for Community Empowerment” at Filantropi Building, Jakarta, Wednesday (13/11/2024). Of course with the aim of inviting the younger generation to continue to empower the culture we have.
Chairman of the Dompet Dhuafa Republika Foundation Board, Ahmad Juwaini in his speech said, “Dompet Dhuafa chose cultural transformation as an approach to empowerment. So with a cultural approach, empowerment will be rooted stronger, more felt, and more natural. In addition, this event is a cultural reflection, as well as a cultural art performance that not only displays the richness of our traditions. But it also symbolizes the embodiment of noble values in everyday life”.
“We hope to show the beauty of the spirit of mutual cooperation, mutual respect, diversity, and strengthen prophetic leadership that can empower the community,” he added.
Emilia Setyowati as Secretary of Bina Trubus Swadaya Foundation on the sidelines of the event said, “The long road that Bina Trubus Swadaya and Dompet Dhuafa have traveled, he hopes that the Cultural FGD can have a tremendous impact on the Indonesian nation. Especially people who are still below the poverty line. The theme of leadership this time was taken because leadership, like a supporting root of a tree, this tree is called Indonesia. A strong tree, with strong roots, will certainly bring its fibrous roots back to a strong country, Indonesia. And we really hope that leaders who inspire, leaders who can provide benefits to their people, of course, are leaders who empower, not empower”.
Emilia also seriously highlighted the phenomenon of the onslaught of South Korean culture or K-Pop that has infected the younger generation, even some parents. According to Emilia, South Korean modern culture has become a reference for the lifestyle of young generations.
“So, this is what happens in this country, it would be extraordinary if Dompet Dhuafa and Bina Swadaya promote our cultures. Because our culture such as from Kediri, which is staged in this ketoprak art is not much worse, even much better than the Joseon that now exists,” said Emilia.
“So, let’s promote national culture to our friends, to our younger siblings, to the younger generations, that the culture we have is truly extraordinary. This culture will lead us to the prosperity of the Indonesian nation. We believe that Indonesia is able to triumph in its arena until now,” said Emilia.
On the other hand, Sri Sultan Hamengkubuwono X, in his speech represented by the Chairman of Paguyuban Suluk Nusantara, Bambang Wiwoho said, “That in efforts to alleviate poverty, culture and community empowerment, must be the main foundation that moves every layer of this nation. Bringing us from just building numbers, but into a movement to create a fair and prosperous civilization”.
In the frame of Yogyakarta’s specialty, the concept of “Gumrégah” or “Rise Together” is not just a symbol, but a call that raises awareness of the power of culture, in uniting steps towards prosperity. This is the essence of renaissance-a renaissance that humanizes and ennobles every human being of the nation.
“To achieve this, character education is key. From mere “mindset” to “culture-set”, character education is a fundamental effort in shaping a literate, independent and empathetic society. We do not just teach values, but instill characters that take root and grow, becoming a living culture that is integrated into each individual,” he said.
The 4th FGD featured the cultural art of ketoprak by telling the story of ande-ande moss with the support of artists from East Java to national artists. The ketoprak cultural performance that day was a creative idea born from anxiety as well as the richness of Indonesia’s cultural heritage.
The main character was played by Parni Hadi as the initiator and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Dompet Dhuafa Republika Foundation as King Jenggala, a kingdom in East Java, followed by Widyanto Dwi Nugroho as Ande Ande Lumut, then Maria Lusiani Tjahjanadewi as Klenting Kuning.
