LAMPUNG – Dompet Dhuafa Lampung, in collaboration with dozens of communities across Lampung, organized the “Solidarity for Palestine” action on Friday (20/10/2023). Held in the courtyard of the Dompet Dhuafa Lampung Office in Bandar Lampung City, this action called for solidarity and issued a statement concerning the worrying conditions faced by the people in Gaza, Palestine, due to Zionist Israeli oppression.
The Head of Dompet Dhuafa Lampung, Yogi Achmad Fajar, stated that this action is a demonstration of concern for the citizens of Gaza, who are currently under Israeli military attack. The sorrow and suffering experienced by the people of Gaza, Palestine, must be promptly addressed.
“We strongly condemn the oppression and atrocities that have recently befallen the civilians in Gaza, Palestine. More than 2,500 people have died, and 12,500 have been injured due to bombardments. They have the right to live in peace and freedom. Stop the oppression of the Palestinian people!” said Yogi during his speech to the participants.

In his speech, Yogi also quoted the preamble of the 1945 Constitution of the Republic of Indonesia, which states, “Freedom is the right of all nations! Therefore, colonization over the world must be abolished as it is not in accordance with humanity and justice!”
“The mandate of the 1945 Constitution preamble asserts that we must speak out. The struggle of the Palestinian people for independence and a safe, comfortable life must be realized. They have been colonized and attacked for over 70 years,” Yogi stated.
After speeches and joint prayers, the crowd moved to five crowded spots on the streets of Bandar Lampung to continue promoting the call for Solidarity for Palestine to the people of Lampung, hoping to garner more concern.

“We call on all people, especially in Lampung, to join in raising concern for the Palestinian people. We can help with prayers, organizing solidarity actions like this, and mobilizing humanitarian aid for civilian victims of violence, to meet basic needs such as healthcare services, medicines, food, and so on,” Yogi explained.
Since its establishment, Dompet Dhuafa has received trusts from the Indonesian people, particularly to assist the people of Palestine. Almost every time violence escalates in Palestine, Dompet Dhuafa calls for Solidarity for Palestine and channels aid from the Indonesian people.
This assistance is actualized in various programs, including the construction of water wells funded by Indonesian community endowments in several locations in Palestine, distribution of logistics, and public kitchens—regrettably, these kitchens were attacked during previous military aggression by Israel and have now ceased operations.
Therefore, Dompet Dhuafa hopes that the programs that have been running and were affected by the attacks can be rebuilt and continued. This effort undoubtedly requires support from all Indonesian people.
