BOGOR, WEST JAVA — In an effort to improve literacy, especially at the basic education level, Dompet Dhuafa synergizes with one of the media groups, Tempo (PT Digital Info Media), which has provided its support in the field of education in the form of book aid to improve literacy in two Madrasah Ibtidaiyah (MI) in Bogor Regency, namely MI Al Arsaniyah, Ciampea District, and MI Muhammadiyah Dahu, Leuwiliang District, Bogor Regency.
This donation is part of the implementation of Tempo Berbagi Ramadan 1445 H Program initiated by Tempo and Dompet Dhuafa during the campaign period from 27 March to 31 May 2024. This campaign scheme involves the public or new Tempo subscribers, through the Tempo Premium package.
From this scheme, a donation is collected in the form of infaq, every new customer who subscribes to Tempo Premium, then 25 percent is deducted from the customer’s payment from each transaction for the “Book Aid and Literacy for Children” program.
Tempo handed over 50 book packages to each school, especially at the elementary education level. On Thursday (15/8/2024), a symbolic handover of the book packages was held. The Book Aid and Literacy for Children program is packaged with a Mobile Reading Corner, using two movable stacking shelves.

Agung Pardini, a representative of Great Edunesia Dompet Dhuafa, explained that this assistance was not only providing books, but also creating a Mobile Reading Corner to encourage reading habits among students using the “read a loud” technique. Great Edunesia also presents librarians, this movement is expected to be an example for teachers in improving student literacy.
MI Al Arsaniyah, which was established in 1993, has an educational focus on reading and writing the Koran, worship practices, has facilities and infrastructure conditions that currently still require a lot of repairs, especially the roof and learning facilities that have begun to rot. As a result of these unsupportive facilities and infrastructure.
“Alhamdulillah, the children are very happy to hold books and hear fairy tales (read a loud) and Alhamdulillah the children love to listen to fairy tales. Thank you to the Dompet Dhuafa and Tempo teams who have provided assistance in the form of books and Alhamdulillah we have used them, the children are happy and we will continue to take care of the books,” said the Head of MI Al Arsaniyah, Iyus Yuli Firdaus.

Salwa Aulia, a 5th grade student of MI Al Arsaniyah, expressed her excitement after receiving the new books. Before this assistance, Salwa felt disturbed because many of the books owned by the school were damaged and even lost. The school roof leaks, making the books wet and torn.
“I’m really happy to be able to read comics, previously there were only textbooks here. Now I want to read more,” said Salwa. However, they also shared the condition of the school which often leaks when it rains, thus disrupting the comfort of learning.
This book donation is expected to help increase students’ knowledge and insight, and support their dreams. Dompet Dhuafa and Tempo are committed to continue supporting children’s education and literacy, especially in elementary schools.
In addition to MI Al Arsaniyah, book packages were also distributed to MI Muhammadiyah Dahu. Represented by Supriyadi, the Head of MI Muhammadiyah Dahu, expressed his gratitude for the literacy assistance provided.
