BALI – During the excitement of the Voluntrip Waste Summit at Padang Galak Beach Tourist Area in Bali on Saturday (23/9/2023), the Community Service Institution (LPM) Dompet Dhuafa distributed assistance to 11 residents of Bali in need. The recipients of this aid include orphans, Quran teachers, and resilient families.
One such benefit recipient is Eri Waswan (56), a resident of Sesetan in South Denpasar. He makes a living by selling tissues and masks at a traffic light, a venture he has pursued for 3 years since the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic.
Before this, Eri had various jobs in construction. However, no longer able to do heavy labor and compelled to change jobs due to the pandemic, he adapted to his new circumstances by switching his profession.
At home, Eri lives with his wife and one school-going child. His other two children, however, already live with their own families. Eri is proud of having supported these two children until they started their families, a feat achieved through his hard work as a construction laborer, which enabled both of his children to complete their formal education.
“Alhamdulillah, thanks to my labor, my children were able to finish school,” he shared with Dompet Dhuafa.
Eri strives to provide for and educate his youngest child with the income he earns from selling tissues and masks. Nonetheless, his earnings are just enough to cover their daily food requirements.

The assistance he received from donors via Dompet Dhuafa has significantly uplifted his spirits. He plans to use this aid to boost his business capital, with the hope that selling more items will increase his daily income.
“I’m very grateful for this support from the donors and Dompet Dhuafa. Hopefully, it can enhance my business capital, giving me more motivation to earn a livelihood,” he expressed.
Tubagus Iim Nurohim, a member of the Distribution Team from LPM, mentioned that this program is a component of the Resilient Family program. The aid is provided as business capital, aiming to keep the benefit recipients motivated in their crucial role as their family’s main providers. (Dompet Dhuafa/Muthohar)
