Authorities report that more than 2,600 people, including children, have died, with thousands more injured. The destruction of thousands of homes has forced many families to seek refuge, exposing them to harsh weather conditions, especially during the night.
“With the onset of winter in the coming months, the need for adequate shelter for the survivors and their families is paramount. Moreover, there is an urgent need for nutritious food, blankets, sleeping mats, and other essentials,” Arif added.
The earthquake has caused extensive damage to schools, hospitals, and other health and educational facilities, further affecting children.
