Dompet Dhuafa Evacuates Pekalongan Flood Survivors

DMC Dompet Dhuafa merespons cepat banjir Pekalongan dan melakukan asesmen daerah terdampak, Rabu (27/11/2024).

PEKALONGAN, CENTRAL JAVA — Several areas in Pekalongan Regency and City, Central Java have experienced tidal flooding due to the 10-metre-long Bremi River embankment in the Pasirsari area, since Saturday (23/11/2024). The Dompet Dhuafa Central Java team through the Central Java Disaster Management Centre (DMC) Team went directly to the Pekalongan Flood site.

Until Wednesday (27/11/2024), tidal floods still inundated residential areas in several areas in Pekalongan Regency and City. The overflowing water from the Bremi River embankment reached the waist of an adult.

On that basis, the Dompet Dhuafa Central Java DMC Team responded quickly by immediately assessing the affected areas.

Dompet Dhuafa’s DMC responded quickly to the Pekalongan floods and assessed the affected areas on Wednesday (27/11/2024).

The flood submerged three villages, including Jeruksari Village with 90 families affected. A total of 60 families in Tegal Dowo were also affected and some residents have evacuated. Pasirsari Village with 300 families affected with the majority of survivors being children and the elderly.
The current condition of the Pekalongan floods includes high water discharge, causing some affected residents to evacuate to Pos Mandiri, but some survivors are still at home. Until this news was published, the water level reached 70 cm-1 metre.

Abdurochim Herjuno, DMC Team of Dompet Dhuafa Central Java reported the latest conditions.
‘In Tegaldowo Village, Tirto Subdistrict, Pekalongan Regency, Wednesday (27/11/2024), the flood reached the height of an adult’s thigh, the flood caused by the broken embankment in this area,’ reported Juno.

Dompet Dhuafa’s DMC responded quickly to the Pekalongan floods and assessed the affected areas on Wednesday (27/11/2024).

In addition to conducting assessments, the Dompet Dhuafa DMC Team also evacuated trapped residents. Now, more than 110 families have evacuated. The urgent need for flood survivors in Pekalongan at this time is the Warm Post, which will soon be established by Dompet Dhuafa.

‘Because male residents, especially men, are standing by at home or affected locations and did not evacuate due to protecting personal belongings,’ Abdurochim added.
