LUMAJANG, EAST JAVA — Dompet Dhuafa through the Disaster Management Center (DMC) held a Short-Period Islamic Study Class based on disaster mitigation in the Temporary Residential Area (Huntara), Sumbermujur Village, Candipuro District, Lumajang Regency.
The activity, which lasts for three days, from Saturday (15/04/2023) to Monday (17/04/2023), aims to introduce disaster management materials and tips on dealing with disasters to children while in evacuation. All participants were students of Grades 5 and 6 of Elementary School affected by the Mount Semeru Eruption disaster in Lumajang, East Java. Dozens of children participants crowded and participated in this Short-Period Islamic Study Class activity solemnly.
“Children will be successful in their time depends on the seriousness in responding to information, they in accustoming themselves to become a generation with a strong Islamic personality (shakhshiyah islamiyah) have noble thoughts, feelings, and behaviors, by Islamic teachings, toughness in maintaining creed, sincerity in social behaviour (mu’amalah), dissertation with obedience in worship,” said Achmad Lukman as Humanitarian Academy Manager DMC Dompet Dhuafa.

In addition, DMC Dompet Dhuafa also held a series of activities to grow and strengthen the spirit of Islam with congregational prayers, suhoor, and iftar together, azan and tahfiz Al-Qur’an competitions, then smart competitions.
“Children with all their vitality hold several potentials that deserve to be developed. In the future, they are the main actors in changing their society, so that the back and forth of future lives is in his hands,” said Ady Sumarna as the Person in Charge of Activities who is the Humanitarian Academy Staff of DMC Dompet Dhuafa.

The hope is that through the Short-Period Islamic Study Class with the theme of disaster mitigation, it will be able to foster faith and piety to Allah Almighty and become empowered in facing disasters.
