CENTRAL JAVA — Several Dompet Dhuafa Jawa Tengah Purwokerto Unit personnel consisting of program teams and volunteers (DDV) participated in Urban Search And Rescue (USAR) Training or Search and Rescue for Disaster Victims in Urban Areas.
The training organized by the Cross-Organization Forum or Forum Lintas Organisasi (FORTASI) dan BASARNAS lasted for two days on Saturday-Sunday (11-12/3/2023) in Tambak District, Banyumas Regency, Central Java. The participants comprised hundreds of personnel from various disaster organizations and communities from Central Java, East Java, and West Java.

Zaini Tafrikhan, Head of the Central Java Dompet Dhuafa Branch said that the participation of Dompet Dhuafa Central Java in the USAR Joint Training was to improve the skills and potential of Dompet Dhuafa disaster volunteers in handling and evacuating victims of building ruins.
“As an Islamic philanthropic institution, the role of the Dompet Dhuafa institution in developing and strengthening disaster network partnerships both nationally and internationally needs to be improved. Especially seeing the potential for disasters in Indonesia and Central Java in particular,” he explained.
Disaster response has also become part of a regular program that requires human resources (amils, employees, volunteers) at Dompet Dhuafa Central Java to improve their abilities. In facing various disasters, preparedness factors must be continuously trained with discipline and commitment.
“One of them is through activities like this,” he continued.

Apart from being a place to increase knowledge and skills, this momentum is also carried out as a form of caring for the togetherness of fellow volunteers, strengthening disaster networks and increasing the expertise, skills and knowledge of volunteers in dealing with disasters.
