Dompet Dhuafa to Kepulauan Seribu, Conducts Mortuary Care Training and Compensation for Mortuary Workers

KEPULAUAN SERIBU, JAKARTA — The limited number of mortuary workers in Kepulauan Seribu prompted Dompet Dhuafa to initiate mortuary care training there. Thankfully, through the Community Service Institution (LPM), Dompet Dhuafa conducted Mortuary Care Training on Kelapa Island, Kepulauan Seribu, on Thursday (18/1/2024). The participants of this mortuary care training were mortuary workers representing islands around Kelapa Island, Kepulauan Seribu.

Moh. Noor Awaluddin Asjhar, the Head of LPM Dompet Dhuafa, explained in his speech how the Barzah Program (Mortuary Care Section) has been running since 2012. Furthermore, this training activity has already been conducted in several regions in Indonesia. For 2024, the training began on Kelapa Island.

“The presence of mortuary care workers on the islands is crucial because their need is unpredictable. Thank you to Pak Lurah for the warm welcome on our arrival here. We hope this training is not the first and that there will be more trainings on other islands,” he stated.

At the training event, compensation was also distributed to the mortuary care workers. A total of 27 mortuary workers from the islands around Kelapa Island attended the training.

Muslim, the Head of Kelapa Island, Kepulauan Seribu, expressed his gratitude to LPM Dompet Dhuafa for organizing this training in his welcoming remarks.

“This activity is very important, especially for mortuary workers in the islands. It serves as an upgrade in knowledge about mortuary care to be practiced in the community.
