PADANG, WEST SUMATRA — For 31 years of service, Dompet Dhuafa continues to manage zakat activities with strong and quality output. The multicultural characteristics and the ability to transform according to the times have made Dompet Dhuafa institutions receive a lot of appreciation. Collaboration with various parties is also a major factor in the process.
Alhamdulillah, Dompet Dhuafa won two awards in the Zakat Award 2024 organized by Forum Zakat (FOZ), namely the Solok Sirukam Coffee Village Featured Program category and the Health Emergency Response (RDK) with the title “Gold”.
This award was given directly by Waryono Abdul Ghofur as Director of Zakat and Waqf Empowerment, Director General of Islamic Guidance, Ministry of Religious Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia to Udhi Tri Kurniawan, Deputy Director 1 of the Dompet Dhuafa Empowerment Program, during the 10th National Conference (Munas) of the Zakat Forum (FOZ) in the Ballroom of The ZHM Premiere Hotel Padang, West Sumatra, on Wednesday (17/7/2024).

Udhi stated that this appreciation or award is a significant moral support for all Dompet Dhuafa people, which encourages them to continue to develop programs that substantially answer the needs of the community.
“This award is a responsibility for us to continue to grow programs that have a strong impact on society. Then it is also part of our efforts as a form of accountability to donors,” Udhi said.
Furthermore, Udhi explained that the programs featured in the Zakat Award 2024 are programs that Dompet Dhuafa has committed to donors. That the program really has a strong impact on the community.

Community empowerment through the Coffee Village program in Nagari Sirukam, initiated by Dompet Dhuafa Singgalang since 2013 with the main product being “Greenbeans” and has the trademark Solok Sirukam Coffee. The interventions provided are capital assistance for fertilizer needs, assistance with coffee plant cultivation, market & product development, as well as the formation of local institutions which are expected from this program to improve community welfare based on superior local commodities.
“The distribution of zakat funds from donors given through Dompet Dhuafa, then Dompet Dhuafa distributes it to the community must be done in the best program concept,” Udhi said.
“We endeavor to improve welfare through strengthening local products. In this case we provide assistance, capacity building, including market development, and the growth of local institutions for coffee farmers in Solok Sirukam,” he added.
In addition to Solok Sirukam Coffee, the award also came in the health sector, namely the Health Emergency Response (RDK) program, which is a rapid response program for health services for the poor, both individuals and communities, who need access and health insurance. This program includes the Dhuafa Emergency Hotline, Healthy Member Health Visits, Individual Health Emergency Response, Disaster Health Emergency Response, and Advocacy for dhuafa health insurance. The RDK program has a flow and system of health emergency response services to become member participants who pass verification of mustahik eligibility.
“Health cases in the community require the speed of our response, to ensure the safety of life. Therefore, through this health emergency response, Dompet Dhuafa strives to be present as quickly as possible in the community, especially those who need the speed of health service support,” he said.
In its implementation, the RDK collaborates with many stakeholders in the region, including many communities. And of course many parties hope that with more networks, the ability to respond to health emergencies in the community will be stronger.
Udhi, representing Dompet Dhuafa, expressed his deep gratitude to various parties and stakeholders who continue to support the humanitarian movement carried out by Dompet Dhuafa. This support is very meaningful in running various programs that are managed for the good of the community.
Be it in the perspective of health, the economic field including education, social da’wah, and culture. “We hope that with the momentum of Zakat Award 2024 we can strengthen collaboration between parties, whose main goal is to increase the benefits of zakat for the community,” concluded Udhi.
The 10th FOZ National Conference was officially opened by the Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia, Ma’ruf Amin, on Tuesday (16/07/2024) at the Vice President’s Palace, Central Jakarta. The event was then continued in Padang City, West Sumatra, from Wednesday to Friday, July 17-19, 2024. More than 150 Amil Zakat Institutions (LAZ) attended the event and received the Zakat Award, including Dompet Dhuafa. (Dompet Dhuafa)
