RIAU ISLANDS — Dompet Dhuafa’s ATM of Rice is a solution for low-income people during the pandemic. As is known, the Covid-19 pandemic has become a tough time for everyone, especially for those who are economically below the poverty line. As is also the case on a national scale, more and more people in the Riau Islands are finding it difficult to find a living.
Continuing to assist people experiencing poverty, Dompet Dhuafa Kepulauan Riau and Dompet Dhuafa USA (United States) created the Dompet Dhuafa Rice ATM program. This program has been running since July 2022 in the Al-Muhajirin Sekupang Mosque, Batam City.
Dompet Dhuafa Kepri Program Manager Muhammad Izzuddin Al Hafidz said the Rice ATM program is intended explicitly for underprivileged people. To date, there have been as many as 65 families who have benefited from this program. Each family gets a ratio of 5 kg of rice every month.

They have cards like ATM cards in general. They can only swipe the card once, as much as 5 kg every month,” explained Hafidz.
He added that the Dompet Dhuafa Rice ATM program would continue to be improved to reach a wider community and beneficiaries. This Rice ATM is also an effective tool for distributing Zakat Fitrah (TZF) by Dompet Dhuafa.
One of the beneficiaries, Halimatun Sakdiah (70), expressed her gratitude to Dompet Dhuafa donors for the kindness given. She felt greatly helped by the rice he received every month. At least, she said, rice or rice will always be there for her children to eat.
“Thank you Dompet Dhuafa and donors. We are happy to receive this rice,” said the widow of 3 children to Dompet Dhuafa when picking up rice on Wednesday (15/3/2023).
Hafidz explained the procedure for taking rice benefits, where each beneficiary family holds one Dompet Dhuafa Rice ATM card. One of the members came to the machine ( it could be represented) to meet with the officer on duty. After that, the officer will be assisted in swiping the card until the rice arrives and is packed in containers or bags. Rice can be taken home directly. (Dompet Dhuafa/Muthohar)
