Some Examples of Small Sins that Lead to Big Sins that Humans Should Avoid

1. Spreading news that is not certain of its truth to others

Allah encourages people not to spread information that is not yet known in fact and also the truth. As humans, we must be careful in conveying information. We must have an alarm whether the information is factually correct and not just a hoax. Our attitude that easily spreads information that is not certain of its truth may be considered a common thing and considered an example of a small sin for us, but it could be that this behavior becomes a big sin before Allah SWT.

2. Hurting Others with Painful Words

“A good word and forgiveness are better than alms accompanied by hurtful actions. Allah is rich, merciful.” (QS. Al Baqarah: 263)

People often make mistakes in what they say. Even the effects of human speech can actually make people disappointed and hurt. We should refrain from bad speech so that the brotherhood is maintained and does not trigger conflict. So we must be able to take lessons in surah Al-Baqarah verse 263, that Allah SWT wants us as humans to always communicate well and not hurt the feelings of others.

If either of them or both of them come to an old age in your care, then at no time should you say to them the word “ah” and should not yell at them and speak to them noble words.” (QS. Al-Isra’: 23)

As a child should, we must respect our parents. Examples of minor sins against our parents start from ignoring our parents and even fatally yelling at our parents. Even worse, we disobey our parents. Don’t let us commit a small sin behavior that leads to a big sin for our attitude towards our parents.
