HATAY, TURKEY — Zakat Management Partners (MPZ) Yayasan Masjid Al-Ikhlas (YMAI) and Al-Ikhlas Islamic Elementary School as well as Disaster Management Center (DMC) distributed 40 food aid packages to Turkey earthquake survivors who took refuge in Kirkhane and Reyhanli regions, Hatay on Tuesday (1/8/2023).
Through the support of local volunteers in Turkey, the food packages were distributed one by one to direct survivors. Interactions full of kindness are done as long as the help is rolled out. Survivors find it helpful to have this package.
“The entire management of YMAI would like to express our deepest gratitude to the donors and pilgrims who have channeled their donations through MPZ YMAI for the assistance of Turkey Earthquake Care some time ago. We also express our deep gratitude to the big family of Al Ikhlas Islamic Elementary School and our distribution partner, DMC Dompet Dhuafa,” said Drs Sansila Amrul Qadar as General Secretary of YMAI via short message.
“Alhamdulillah, the assistance from donors and pilgrims for our brothers in Turkey has been distributed in the form of basic necessities. May the aid be useful for our brothers in Turkey. Thank you again to all parties involved in this program. May what has been given, be rewarded by Allah SWT with a perfect reward. Aamiin,” he continued.
According to him, the donors are very kind because they are willing to help the survivors, even though the donors and survivors do not know each other. However, kindness is able to bridge the interaction between donors and survivors to be able to help improve life again for survivors affected by the Turkey Earthquake.
As many as 40 families or equivalent to 120 people were helped because of this food package assistance. The food aid package consists of flour, rice, sugar, beans, tea, oil, pasta, ketchup, and salt.
“Thank you to the friends of MPZ YMAI and Al-Ikhlas Islamic Elementary School who have entrusted assistance to us DMC Dompet Dhuafa in reinstating and living for our brothers and sisters in Turkey after the earthquake that claimed their line of life,” said Akbar Saddam as General Manager of DMC Resource Hub of Dompet Dhuafa via short message.
“May this be an effort of our kindness together in helping our brothers and sisters in Turkey. Let’s be with us in doing this kindness movement, Because the Earth is Only One, let’s be Empowered to Face Disasters,” continued Akbar.
The unstable economic condition of the refugees has made it difficult for many earthquake survivors to meet their basic needs.

It has been six months since the devastating earthquake that shook Turkey on February 6 occurred, but in the current recovery period there are still many earthquake survivors who are forced to survive in refugee camps, because they don’t have a place to live anymore.
“I really thank you very much for your help and prayers,” said one of the benefit recipients.
Refugees in Turkey include around 3.4 million Syrians and more than 300,000 survivors from other countries and stateless people. Temporary Accommodation Centres (TACs) were used to house people who lost their homes in the earthquake. More than 65,600 people are accommodated in nine TACs run by the Presidency of Migration Management (PMM) and more than 98% of Syrian refugees live in all 81 provinces in Turkey.
Refugees have been applied to be able to find a home or return to their home countries in 17 countries by 2023. More than 6,700 refugees have left for 16 countries. Vulnerable evacuees from earthquake zones have been prioritized to return to their home countries immediately. (Dompet Dhuafa/DMC/Fajar)
