Eradicating Blindness, LAZ PT. PLN Indonesia Power Suralaya Collaborates with Achmad Wardi Eye Hospital BWI-DD to Hold Free Cataract Surgery

SERANG, BANTEN — On Wednesday (1/2/2023), LAZ PT. PLN Indonesia Power Suralaya collaborated with RS Mata Achmad Wardi BWI-DD, initiating a free cataract surgery social service activity with several beneficiaries of 60 dhuafa operated from 200 people screened from the area around the company. The free cataract social service is one of the efforts to reduce blindness in Banten province, especially in the Cilegon region, whose area is not far from the coastline, with cataract cases being a leverage factor.

“Of course, in the process of our cooperation this time, it is a good start to provide benefits for dhuafa; besides that, the Indonesian ophthalmologists association also supports this activity,” said dr. Moh. Badrus Sholeh, M. Kes., as the President Director of Mata Achmad Wardi Hospital BWI-DD.

“This activity was first carried out, thank God, today it can be carried out, and hopefully it can become a worship charity for the muzakis (people who pay zakat) and, of course, blessings for the company,” added Irwan Edy Syahputra Lubis as, GM of PT. PLN Indonesia Power Suralaya PGU.

Of course, this activity is very beneficial for the community, as did Mr Kantawi (86), who had previously worked as a laborer. Since his eyesight began to be disturbed, he was no longer working; instantly, he replaced activities at home with only farming. “My left eye can already see brighter and clearer; it’s not blurry anymore. Thank God, thank you very much for helping to restore my vision,” admitted Mr Kantawi.

Hopefully, this will be a good charity for all of us, Aamiin.

“Alhamdulillah, this free cataract social service activity is going well. And we are also supported by the head office, and we are the executors,” concluded Mr Irwan. (Dompet Dhuafa / RS Mata Achmad Wardi)
