Expanding Outreach to Improve Service Quality, Dompet Dhuafa Prepares Amil Jenazah Trainers

BOGOR, WEST JAVA — Dompet Dhuafa’s Community Service Agency continues to improve services to the community, including improving the quality of services of the Funeral Parlour (Barzah) Programme. One of the efforts is to hold a Training of Trainers (ToT) for the amil jenazah held in Sentul, Bogor, on Monday-Tuesday (25-26/11/2024).

The two-day activity aimed to overcome the lack of teaching staff and strengthen the ability of amil in carrying out their duties professionally. It was attended by dozens of participants from the Jabodetabek area.

As is known, the ability to commemorate a corpse, from bathing to burial in accordance with the provisions of Islamic law, is sometimes not owned by everyone. This is where the role of an amil jenazah is very important in the community.

The participants are amil officers who are experienced in community services. They are trained to be ready to educate other amil jenazah in various regions, expand the range of services, and improve the quality of funeral arrangements.

Ahmad Shonhaji, Director of Dompet Dhuafa’s Social, Humanitarian and Dakwah Programmes, explained that the programme aims to improve service quality and provide greater benefits to the community.

‘Alhamdulillah, the 50 participants who attended became trainers who will provide services to the community in funeral arrangements to make training activities like this with Dompet Dhuafa branch partners,’ he explained.

The training was highly appreciated by the participants, such as Widiana Pratiwi, a coroner at the forensic unit of Depok City Hospital. She expressed her gratitude for being given the opportunity to attend this training.

Widiana revealed that the activity provided many valuable insights, especially related to sharia fiqh in funeral arrangements. According to her, this training not only deepens religious understanding, but also strengthens technical skills in carrying out tasks better and in accordance with sharia.
‘Alhamdulilah, this activity has given us a lot of insight, especially about sharia fiqh in funeral arrangements,’ said Widiana.

LPM Dompet Dhuafa held a Training of Trainers (TOT) in Sentul, Bogor, for funeral directors on Monday-Tuesday (25-26/11/2024).

This activity also presented Muhammad Agus Mulyana, Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Division of Bogor Regency’s Indonesian Ulema Council. He expressed his appreciation and positive welcome for the implementation of this Training of Trainers activity. According to him, this programme has an important value in providing education to the community, especially regarding the practice of funeral arrangements in accordance with Islamic law.

‘This programme is an extraordinary programme because of the affairs of the hereafter. Hopefully the programme initiated by Dompet Dhuafa can provide benefits to the community. The participants who take part in the training who will become trainers hopefully can provide education for the community on how to properly, cleanly, and according to sharia as well as adjusting existing traditions properly and wisely. We at MUI Bogor Regency give our highest appreciation to Dompet Dhuafa,’ said Muhammad Agus.

Dompet Dhuafa’s Barzah programme aims to be able to provide education and convenience to the community in terms of corpse management. In addition, Barzah Dompet Dhuafa also provides corpse ambulance services to be delivered to funeral homes or funerals, as well as education to the community in the management of corpses, by holding training and partnerships.
