CAKUNG, EAST JAKARTA — Dozens of orphans looked cheerful to get the opportunity to shop for Eid al-Fitr 1444 H needs at Lulu Hypermarket & Department Store Cakung shopping center, Saturday (1/4/2023). Smiles shown, as they chose the items that they wanted. However, not infrequently also some of them seemed to doubt their choice.
Knowing this, several amilin/amilat of Dompet Dhuafa, as well as Aliyah Sayuti as the Super Volunteer Dompet Dhuafa, participated in the action of accompanying the orphan children when shopping for their needs that afternoon. Among them expressed empathy for the children, there were also those who admitted that this was the first moment to ‘volunteer’ themselves outside of their main work routine.
“I’ve also been an orphan since childhood. I want to accompany them because when I was a child, things like this were fun, but in order to maintain the essence of caring for orphans,” said Kemal Pahlevi, MPZ Retail team (Mitra Pengelola Zakat) of Dompet Dhuafa Mosque.
In addition, Kiki as the Customer Care (CC) team of Dompet Dhuafa, revealed the new things she got from the moment of Shopping with Orphans at that time.
“I was touched when I heard that these children rarely shop at the mall, so there are many products that they may not know about. They are happy, as well as may be confused about what else to shop for. It’s also a lesson for me,” said Kiki.

The joy of shopping was felt by one of the orphan children, Raka (9). The first time he entered the shopping area, the item he dreamt of the most was Eid Koko clothes (Male moslem’s clothes). For him, the clothes he has today are only a few that are still good to wear, including the one he wore at that time.
Accompanying Raka, Dhea as the Dompet Dhuafa Partnership team, tried to help choose the items needed when shopping at Lulu Hypermarket.
“I tried to help choose the Eid Koko clothes and trousers for Raka. Also accompany shopping for home needs such as basic necessities and food, so that their needs are fulfilled but according to the nominal provided and not excessive either, “said Dhea.
