HATAY, TURKEY — PLN Indonesia Power East Java, Hearty Service together with Dompet Dhuafa East Java and Dompet Dhuafa Disaster Management Center (DMC) distributed 80 food packages for Turkey Earthquake survivors who took refuge in Kirkhane and Reyhanli areas, Hatay on Tuesday (1/8/2023).
The unstable economic condition of the refugees resulted in many earthquake survivors finding it difficult to meet their basic needs.
Six months have passed since a devastating earthquake shook Turkey on February 6, 2023. However, in the current recovery period, there are still many earthquake survivors who are forced to survive in refugee camps, because they no longer have a place to live.

Knowing this, Dompet Dhuafa together with donors and partners helped ease the burden on Turkey earthquake survivors by sending food aid packages. Through the support of local volunteers in Turkey, the food packages were distributed one by one to earthquake survivors directly. Interactions full of kindness were established during the help. Survivors find it helpful to have this package.
“Thank you to the partners and donors of PLN Indonesia Power East Java and Hearty Service who continue to give their trust to us, DMC Dompet Dhuafa in a collaboraction of kindness for our brothers in Turkey who are still struggling and recovering from the earthquake that occurred earlier this year,” said Akbar Saddam as General Manager Resource Hub of DMC Dompet Dhuafa via short message.
“We will continue to strive for the best service for the fulfillment and recovery of people affected by disasters in Indonesia and outside Indonesia. Because the Earth is only one, let’s be empowered to face disasters,” Akbar continued.
According to him, donors are very kind to help survivors, even though donors and survivors do not know each other. However, kindness is able to bridge the interaction between donors and survivors until there is an increase in life for survivors affected by the Turkey Earthquake.
“Thank you very much for your help,” said one of the benefit recipients.
On a different occasion, Dr Batyr Berdyklychev, WHO Representative to the Turkish region said that the current six months of Turkey’s recovery efforts are continuing. Despite the challenges and obstacles in the recovery journey, thanks to the help of various NGOs, recovery can proceed on target and transparently.

“Now, exactly six months later, our efforts continue as we support those experiencing physical and mental challenges following the earthquake. Those affected, either directly or indirectly, are still struggling, and our commitment to supporting their prosperity remains strong,” Dr Bathyr said.
“We understand that we cannot handle the enormous challenges caused by this disaster by ourselves, and the contributions of our donors have taken an important role in making a real difference to the lives of affected communities.”
Dr Batyr added that cross-country cooperation must be maintained and professional. With so many parties involved, it is expected to accelerate the improvement of survivors’ lives.
“The journey to complete recovery may be long, but together we can make a difference to the lives of those affected by this tragedy. I express my sincere thanks to all the people and organizations who have contributed for this purpose. Let’s continue to work hand in hand, with compassion and determination, as we seek to rebuild and restore hope for the Turkish people,” concluded Dr. Batyr. (Dompet Dhuafa/DMC/Fajar)
