EAST JAVA — The presence of RS Hasyim Asy’ari Dompet Dhuafa is a manifestation of the dream of KH Salahuddin Wahid or familiarly called Gus Sholah. Previously, he wanted to bring benefits, especially to the people of Jombang and East Java. RS Hasyim Asy’ari was realized from the collaboration between Dompet Dhuafa and Tebuireng Islamic Boarding School (Pondok Pesantren Tebuireng), the fruit of Gus Sholah’s visit with his wife to the Dompet Dhuafa Integrated Health House (RST) in Bogor on April 20, 2017.
Hj. Farida Salahuddin Wahid, wife of the late Gus Sholah, during the inauguration of this waqf-based hospital, said that Gus Sholah had many dreams when he was still a caregiver for Ponpes Tebuireng. One of them is to present health facilities around the pesantren area so that the people of Jombang can easily access them. All praise belongs to Allah, Hasyim Asy’ari Hospital was officially established on August 8, 2023 on Jl. Cukir-Parkir Makam Gus Dur, Kwaron, Diwek, Jombang.
The Governor of East Java, Khofifah Indar Parawansa and the entire Jombang community attended the hospital’s inauguration. On the same occasion, the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Dompet Dhuafa, Parni Hadi invited all parties to jointly develop Gus Sholah’s dream through the presence of this health facility.
Parni admitted that he had tried the services at the newly inaugurated hospital. According to his experience, it only takes half an hour for the results to come out for tension checks and lab checks. In addition, the treatment of health workers as well as the condition of the room and facilities, are qualified. One more thing, it is very rare for a hospital to be surrounded by rice fields.
Furthermore, Dompet Dhuafa and Ponpes Tebuireng will discuss this collaboration further. The thing discussed was how a healthy house (called a RS, according to Parni) is the first capital to do empowerment. Then the health sector will become the leading sector. After that, with all efforts through various cooperations, empowerment will be built in economy, education, culture, and faith/piety.

“Dompet Dhuafa already has some expertise in these fields, but if we work together, this (will) be a model for (can be done in) all of Indonesia, God willing,” said Parni.
There are four sectors emphasized by the senior journalist on the development of the empowerment of Hasyim Asy’ari Hospital, namely social, intellectual, cultural, and spiritual.
“I want (RSHA) to be multisectoral and multidimensional. What is it? (That is) social, intellectual, cultural and spiritual cooperation. Insyallah, physically healthy, spiritually healthy, pocket-healthy. Many sick people become poor, poor people suck even more. Dompet Dhuafa (takes care of patients, (provides) the means to be independent, we teach, we empower, we have experience for that,” he explained.
In more detail, Parni said that Dompet Dhuafa has many resources that are experts in their fields. This includes architects who are experts in earthquake-resistant buildings, namely DD Construction. Dompet Dhuafa also has a Healthy Nutrition Kitchen program running at RST Parung. Some of these things can certainly be held also at Hasyim Asy’ari Hospital.

Development in the cultural and spiritual fields can later be connected with DD Travel. This is in line with the presence of Hasyim Asy’ari Hospital in Santri City and so many pilgrims who come. As is known, Dompet Dhuafa’s educational programs managed by the Human Development Institute (Lembaga Pengembangan Insani (LPI)) have succeeded in developing education for underprivileged communities, both in cities and villages, from Sabang to Merauke.
