CIANJUR, WEST JAVA — Hundreds of Hunian Sementara Bumi Endah or Huntara Bunga Dompet Dhuafa (Temporary Housing) located in Cugenang District, Cianjur Regency have stood tall and are ready to be inhabited by Cianjur Earthquake survivors. Hundreds of Huntara Bunga units are spread across Kampung Sarampad, Sarampad Village, and Kampung Pangkalan, Benjot Village, Cugenang District, Cianjur Regency.
Through the Disaster Management Center (DMC) unit, Dompet Dhuafa inaugurated the Huntara Bunga in Kampung Sarampad, Sarampad Village, Cugenang District, Cianjur Regency on Friday (31/03/2023). This inauguration was carried out symbolically by cutting the ribbon and followed by planting productive trees, namely mango trees. Then, the event was closed by breaking the fast together with the benefit recipients and residents around Kampung Sarampad.
Hadini, one of the benefit recipients of Huntara Bunga Dompet Dhuafa in Kampung Sarampad, admitted that she was very grateful for the temporary housing after the earthquake. The reason is, now she and her family can live more comfortably, unlike when they were in a tent. Thanks to this temporary housing built from society donations, the disaster survivors no longer have to worry about the cold night, mosquito bites, or heavy rain.
“Alhamdulillah, since I got Huntara help, I am happy, because let alone for home, I don’t even know how I’ll be able to eat (difficult). After getting Huntara, the children can live decently, not in the tent anymore, because if we live in the tent, when it’s summer it becomes hot, when it’s the rainy season it becomes flooded,” said Hadini.
“I thank the donors who have given their help. And I thank all the people who have helped, hopefully sustenance will be given by Allah SWT,” she added.
The inauguration of the Huntara Bunga Dompet Dhuafa is an exciting thing for all parties, including the Head of Kecamatan Cugenang, Komariah, who also appreciates DMC Dompet Dhuafa. The reason is, in this holy month of Ramadan, survivors can enjoy a decent and safe place to return to face the future.
“In this case, we appreciate NGO, private parties, or any individual who has collaborated with the local government. We would like to express our gratitude to the donors whose hearts have been touched to participate in the recovery during the emergency response, transition, to recover physically and mentally, especially in this case who is currently present in Kampung Sarampad is DMC Dompet Dhuafa,” explained Komariah as Head of Cugenang District.

This Huntara Bunga Dompet Dhuafa carries the concept of recycled housing, which means houses based on material from former house debris damaged by the Cianjur Earthquake in November 2022. Of course, it is also added with new building materials.
“We utilize and maximize the remains of the rubble from their collapsed house buildings, so that there are no remnants of buildings that are not utilized. This is also in order to minimize flooding of waste. In addition, through this Huntara Bunga, there is society involvement to have a place to live that what they’re building is indeed for them,” said Ahmad Shonhaji, Director of Social, Da’wah, and Culture Services of Dompet Dhuafa who was also present at the inauguration ceremony.
This temporary residence built by DMC Dompet Dhuafa consists of two bedrooms, one living room, and a terrace house with an area of 7×5 square meters.

Before building the temporary housing, DMC Dompet Dhuafa had already formed a community group consisting of 10 Heads of Families. After that, knowledge transfer was carried out about the development of temporary housing with the concept of recycling; Starting from size, materials, to architecture, and building the spirit of empowerment. When the group has been formed and the recycle house has been socialized, the society will work together to build a temporary house for each group member.
“Based on the lessons learned by DMC Dompet Dhuafa, the existence of habitable houses is very influential for the recovery of earthquake survivors. We hope that the existence of Huntara Bunga in Cianjur can contribute to the recovery of the survivors,” explained Arif Rahmadi Haryono, Chief Executive Officer of DMC Dompet Dhuafa via short message.
“We thank you for the support of the society and every party who always helps Cianjur disaster survivors to get their lives back to normal,” he continued.
