LEBAK, BANTEN — In an effort to improve the skills, experience and learning of midwives who are participants in the BIUN (Inspirational Midwives for the Nation) program, a collaboration between Dompet Dhuafa and Kimia Farma, participants were invited to visit the Baduy area. A total of 26 participants had the opportunity to gain knowledge from midwives who already had experience in the Baduy tribe. This training was held in the Kadu Ketug 3 Hamlet area, Kanekes Village, Cibolegar, Leuwidamar District, Lebak Regency, Banten on August 18 and 19, 2022.
Through this activity, midwives will increase their ability to prepare themselves to be deployed and apply innovative programs in their respective work areas. It is then hoped that the innovative program will have a positive impact on the community.
The main focus of today’s activity is learning good communication techniques for working with rural communities. The participants will be guided by resource persons who are practitioners who have expertise in rural areas.
These practitioners will equip the midwives with the skills to carry out activities in remote areas. They will also be given an overview of the challenges that the practitioners have faced, and discuss solutions to the problems that have arisen.
This visit is expected to provide opportunities for midwives to serve the Baduy community, in relation to stunting and clean and healthy lifestyles (PHBS) through the Healthy Service Action (ALS) program. Kimia Farma and Dompet Dhuafa are rolling out the ALS program for the Baduy community and involving all participants in the program to provide counseling and health checks.
This Healthy Service Visit and Action was attended by Sifing Lestari as Senior Officer of Education and Health Promotion at Dompet Dhuafa, Andi Prazos as Director of Production & Supply Chain at PT. Kimia Farma Tbk, Dr. Dendi who is the Head of the Health Resources Division of the Banten Health Office, then Hj. Ani Ade Sumardi as Chair of the Family Welfare Empowerment Movement (TP PKK) of Lebak Regency and Dede Herdiansyah as Head of the Cisimeut Community Health Center as well as Eros Rosita, a midwife with experience in the Baduy tribe.
Lestari explained that this activity was a series of training materials. Sensitivity to the culture of the community is important for midwives when carrying out innovative projects to prevent and reduce stunting in their respective areas.
“There are 26 stunting prevention and reduction innovation projects that will be managed by each midwife. Hopefully in the next 6 months the communities in 26 locations will be able to benefit from this program,” said Lestari.
Then, on the same occasion, Andi Prazoz, Production & Supply Director of Chadin PT. Kimia Farma Tbk explained that the activity held in Baduy was the highlight of the collaboration between Kimia Farma and Dompet Dhuafa.
“Dompet Dhuafa and Kimia Farma are conducting an inspirational midwife program for the country. Today, the visit and Healthy Service Action in Baduy is the culmination of the collaboration between Dompet Dhuafa and Kimia Farma,” said Andi.
Furthermore, Dr. Dendi said that midwives who are present this time to the Baduy tribe can practice to improve soft skills, such as learning to communicate with the community.
“Midwives who are present this time to conduct a comparative study or to gain knowledge from midwives in the Baduy tribe can learn a lot, how to communicate with the community, because there will be a different way of communicating than in the city. This is a very good opportunity for the midwives who are present this time,” said Dr. Dendi.
After that, Hj. Ani welcomed the visit and health service activities this time. According to her, this activity is a valuable opportunity for all midwives, because they can exchange knowledge with midwives who already have experience serving the Baduy people.
“Welcome to the midwives in Baduy village. Maybe if you look at us, we still have some shortcomings, maybe in the midwife’s area everything is more developed, this time maybe it’s more appropriate for us to share experiences. We have an exemplary midwife, Eros, from whom we can learn from his experience. We can exchange ideas and discuss issues and how to solve them, especially things that happen in the interior,” said Hj. Ani.
This series of BIUN training activities in the future will spawn innovative projects in their respective regions. In addition, midwives who will be placed in remote areas, one of which is in Banten, are expected to be able to dedicate themselves to the surrounding community. (Dompet Dhuafa / Arlen)
