JAKARTA – Through Corps Dai Dompet Dhuafa (Cordofa), Dompet Dhuafa held a training to build the capacity of Quranic teachers as well as to certify teachers of the Quranic Learning Centre (PBM). The training was held on Monday-Tuesday (19-20/2/2024) at Amaris Hotel, Kemang, South Jakarta.
Etika Setiawanti as the Secretary of Dompet Dhuafa Republika said that this event was born from a sense of concern for Koran teachers in the area who did not receive more attention. In fact, Koranic teachers are the providers of the next Quranic generation.
“There are still many Quranic teachers who are still far from welfare standards, so this is what underlies Dompet Dhuafa to try to assist teachers to increase capacity and integrity. Hopefully it will not be interrupted until this activity, “said Etika on Tuesday (20/2/2024).
The realisation of this agenda cannot be separated from the results of collaboration with PT Maybank Syariah as a provider of assistance in the form of benevolent fund distribution managed by the Maybank Indonesia Sharia Business Unit (UUS).
The two-day training was divided into six sessions that focused on learning a Quranic method called Abahata Al-Jabary – a technique for memorising verses in addition to reading. The participants themselves were Quran teachers from various PBMs spread across Java Island.
Approaching the closing of the event, various remarks were delivered by leaders from Dompet Dhuafa and PT Maybank Syariah. Ahmad Shonhaji, President Director of Yayasan Sumber Daya Masyarakat Indonesia, expressed the hope of organising the teacher training and certification event.

He said that Cordofa’s role as the spearhead needs to be gathered together. By conducting programme approaches and da’wah interventions. One of them is the certification of PBM teachers. Later, during Ramadan, there will be 30 preachers spread across 25 countries.
“They (certification participants) will preach in their respective areas. Dompet Dhuafa is involved in paying attention to religious teachers in the regions,” said Shonhaji.
The last speech was delivered by Muhammad Faisal Muchtar as Head of Maybank Shariah Advisory & Assurance, expressing his gratitude for this collaboration agenda with Dompet Dhuafa. He hopes that Maybank Syariah’s involvement in this PBM teacher certification activity can help build spiritual, financial, and ruhiyah in the elements of society.
The event closed with the reading of the five best trainees in the Guru Ngaji PBM Programme. They are Badrusalim, Nurrul Izmi, Atika Mutiara Aaden, Muhammad Arifin and Halimatuz Jahroh.
The graduation of the teachers was led by Kyai Yusuf Sadik, the initiator of the Abhata Al-Jabary Qur’anic reading and writing method. In addition to the speakers, other Dompet Dhuafa officials were also present that afternoon, namely Ahmad Faqih Syarafaddin as GM of Dompet Dhuafa ZIS Collection and Juperta Panji Utama as Secretary of the Indonesian Community Resource Foundation.
