West Java – The Dompet Dhuafa Community Service Institute (LPM) provided business capital assistance in the Independent Disability program to Jaelani (24), a resident of Cogreg Village, Parung District, Bogor Regency, on Wednesday (1/2/2023).
He has a disability with his movement disorder and daily activities of taking care of a small business, namely betta fish livestock. Previously. he worked as a building coolie with a wage of Rp.100.000, -/day, but a work accident he experienced resulted in him not being able to work hard again.
Jaelani said that at that time, he was working on the roof of someone’s house using mild steel in 2017. Well, he was electrocuted in electricity from the cables of the sutet (an extra high voltage Air line) pole around his workplace. So, when he was taken to the hospital, he immediately took amputation measures in both hands. The reason is that both are no longer functioning and are difficult to cure.
Currently, Jaelani lives in the house of his in-laws, a child, and his wife. To meet his daily needs, he has a betta fish livestock business with a harvest period of once every 2 (two) months. Within those two months, the fish that can be sold is around 1000 heads for Rp. 1,500, -/ head, from the proceeds of the sale, he divided two, namely to meet the needs at home and capital to repurchase fish seeds.
Seeing Jaelani’s fighting spirit despite his limitations, Tarmizi Akbar, as part of the LPM team, invited Jaelani to shop for his needs around the Ciseeng area. Some items purchased are plastic, salt, fish nutrition, and fish seeds.

“Hopefully, with the help of this business capital, it can increase Mr. Jaelani’s business and income so that his family will be happy, and of course, don’t let his children drop out of school,” said Akbar.
Currently, the betta fish business is Jaelani’s struggle to provide for his family in limited circumstances. He hopes that in the future, he wants to continue to develop the business that is being run while looking for new business opportunities.
“Alhamdulillah, I am grateful for the assistance; hopefully, it can be a blessing for Dompet Dhuafa donors,” he said. (Dompet Dhuafa/Rey/Muthohar)
