Inviting Jakarta Marathon Runners 2022 to Care about Flood Disasters in Indonesia

JAKARTA — After two absences due to the Covid-19 pandemic, Jakarta Marathon was finally held again. This marathon running competition event took place on Sunday (10/16/2022) in the Gelora Bung Karno (GBK) area, Senayan, Jakarta. The event, which was included in the list of World Marathon Majors, was attended by 15,300 participants who were released by the Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy of the Republic of Indonesia (Menparekraf RI) Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno.

In the midst of the excitement of this event, in addition to inviting the public to care about body health, Jakarta Marathon together with Dompet Dhuafa also invited the running participants to care about the safety of disaster victims. At least, there are already 5 (five) cities in Indonesia that have been hit by severe floods, including Aceh, Padang, Palembang, Bandung, and the Jabodetabek area. In addition to the five cities, there were also earthquakes in North Tapanuli, floods in Banyumas Regency, landslides in Ciamis Regency, floods in Cilacap Regency, and floods in Bali.

A number of Jakarta Marathon 2022 runners did not escape to approach the Dompet Dhuafa booth in the Race Pack Collection Jakarta Marathon Expo area next to the Plaza Barat GBK. In addition to donating, they also want to voice the invitation of Indonesia Siap Siaga with Dompet Dhuafa.

One of the 10K runners, Greget Kalla Buana, who is also an Islamic Finance Specialist, said he also empathized with the many natural disasters that hit a number of regions in Indonesia. In his opinion, everyone should be concerned about these calamities. The man who graduated from the Faculty of Economics and Business, Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) invited the entire community to participate in humanitarian actions with Dompet Dhuafa.

“I invite all my friends together with Dompet Dhuafa to participate in the Humanesia program, namely Indonesia Siap Siaga for a number of flood-hit areas,” said the owner of the @gregetkallabuana Instagram account.

“Let’s Support the victims affected by disasters in a number of regions in Indonesia by clicking the donasi.dompetdhuafa.org/indonesiasiapsiaga link, or directly coming to the nearest Dompet Dhuafa office or counter,” explained Nurul Azka or who is often called Nunuz.

In addition to inviting runners to care about flood victims, Dompet Dhuafa also provides prayer rooms as a means of worship before running and after running marathons. That way, even though the runners have to leave in the morning blind, even before dawn, they can still comfortably carry out the congregational dawn prayers. (Dompet Dhuafa / Muthohar)
