Islamic boarding school burned down, LPM continues to support the learning process

BANTEN — Dompet Dhuafa’ s Community Service Agency (LPM) distributed aid to Al-Istiqomah Islamic Boarding School, Bolang Village, Malingping District, Lebak Regency, on Friday (4/10/2024). Al-Istiqomah Islamic Boarding School was chosen as a beneficiary because it had just experienced a severe fire which was allegedly triggered by an electrical short circuit.

The fire, which occurred on Thursday, September 19, 2024, engulfed a number of important buildings, including 5 kobong santri, 2 taklim assemblies, 1 stilt house, and books that are references for learning.

When the Dompet Dhuafa Team conducted an assessment, the rebuilding of the cottage had begun with the foundation of walls and chicken claws that were seen starting to be installed. However, the leader of Ponpes Al-Istiqomah, Ohim, said that currently the cottage is in dire need of books to support the teaching and learning process.

LPM Dompet Dhuafa responded to this need by distributing donations from donors in the form of 221 copies of books of 23 types, including the book of Ihya Ulumudin. The symbolic delivery of the books was received directly by the Head of Bolang Village, Ace Wirja.

“Alhamdulillah, this book aid is very beneficial for us. Insha Allah, it will be a blessing, because the students have also started studying again and need yellow books, even though at this time the students have to sleep in several caretakers’ houses,” said Ohim.

LPM Dompet Dhuafa also distributed nutrition packages to the elderly of Bolang Village.

In addition, Dompet Dhuafa also distributed 20 nutrition packages and compensation for the elderly and orphaned families in the Al-Istiqomah Boarding School environment.

Ace Wirja as the Bolang Village Head, expressed his appreciation for Dompet Dhuafa’s role in supporting the welfare of the Bolang Village community.

“The attention from Dompet Dhuafa is beneficial for our community, so that it can ease the burden on families,” said the Bolang village head, closing the LPM’s visit to Ponpes Al-Istiqomah.
