Joint SAR Team’s Search Efforts Successful, Drowning Victim in Kali Sasak Located

SOUTH TANGERANG — On Tuesday (5/12/2023), a victim who drowned in Kali Sasak, located in Kedaung Village, Pamulang District, South Tangerang, was successfully recovered. Regrettably, the victim, identified by the initials MSH (32), had already passed away.

MSH was reported missing in the early hours of Monday (4/12/2023) around 02:06 AM local time. At the time, MSH and a companion were in the process of closing their food stall. While washing dishes near the river’s edge, MSH slipped and fell into Kali Sasak while attempting to retrieve an item.

The Joint SAR Team located the victim on Tuesday afternoon at 2:25 PM local time, approximately 6 km from the initial incident site at Taman Menteng Bintaro, South Tangerang.

“The body was discovered late this afternoon when it surfaced and became lodged against a culvert support. It was subsequently transferred to the Kedaung Village Health Center and will be handed over to the family,” Fazzli, SAP, M.Si, Head of the Jakarta SAR Office and SAR Mission Coordinator (SMC) for the operation, stated in his official release.

Fazzli further highlighted that the Joint SAR Team continued their search efforts on Tuesday morning, employing the Explore SAR (E-SAR) methodology to trace the canal’s path. The operation also included the use of inflatable boats, as well as surveillance at sluice gates and bridges spanning the Kali Sasak, extending up to a 9 km radius from the site of the incident.

“The DMC Dompet Dhuafa and the Joint SAR Team carried out searches from the Ciputat River to the Bintaro area. Thankfully, the victim was located today,” reported Taqi Falsafati, a member of the DMC Dompet Dhuafa’s Emergency Response Team, from the site.
