JAKARTA — On a talk show, Friday Dahsyat #3, on Friday (21/10/2022) at the Philanthropy Building, Pasar Minggu, Dompet Dhuafa again introduced the waqf assets it manages. As a waqf nazir, Dompet Dhuafa has and continues to strive to optimize the management of waqf assets productively.
Entitled “Management of Waqf Assets of Dompet Dhuafa,” this bi-annual routine event presented several related speakers, including Iqbal Abu Fatih as GM of Dompet Dhuafa Waqf Empowerment &Development, Asep Hendriana as Chairman of the Umar Usman Education Foundation, and Herdiansah as Director of Asset Trust Development.
An essential first step in waqf management is the existence of an assessment process and data or information collection. In this step, Dompet Dhuafa, as much as possible, digs up information about an asset to be produced, including being free from disputes. After that, it is also necessary to conduct a special assessment and study of the program’s feasibility to be managed so that it can be ensured that it will be productive.
Iqbal Abu Fatih explained, “Assessment is important in managing waqf. Since full ownership of the muwakif is an important condition of doing waqf, it is also free from disputes. We also need to review the feasibility study of the management program. Of course, we, in developing this waqf, have limitations to manage. So we appoint a managing partner. So that waqf assets are well managed”.
Alhamdulillah, so far, he continued, Dompet Dhuafa, with waqf management which also collaborates with other waqf management partners, can be more productive and has received surpluses from various waqf asset management.
One of the waqf management partners is the Umar Usman Education Foundation. Asep Hendriana, the head of the foundation, explained that his team had achieved a productive waqf surplus of RP231,261,960.67. This productive value can be reached within a one-year management period of the Khadijah Learning Center (KLC) building in BSD, Serpong. This surplus was handed over to the nazir of Dompet Dhuafa on September 15, 2022.
He explained why, in August 2021, he was so optimistic about the management of the KLC waqf building because the waqf assets belonged to Allah SWT. Although it felt so fallow in the first semester and still far from the imagined target, he and the team remained steadfast and confident that they could produce this waqf asset as surprised. Sure enough, in the second semester in August 2022, waqf assets managed by the Law could reach IDR 231,261,960.67 million, exceeding the target of IDR 227,557,800.00.
“Why are we at KLC got challenged managing waqf assets? Because managing waqf assets is managing the assets of Allah SWT. From there, we are confident to manage waqf assets. With the unique selling of waqf, of course, we manage assets in the market by prioritizing insights about waqf to customers. Alhamdulillah, in 2022, we can hand over the surplus waqf to the Dompet Dhuafa Foundation,” he explained.
Furthermore, Herdiansah explained that the management of waqf assets is a sustainable asset as a welcome to the nation. Because waqf has a strength value that should not be reduced, the profit is developed. Asset Trust Development has a dream, in the future, to be able to manage the country’s strategic assets by partnering with the government and other stakeholders. In fact, there are also many facilities and infrastructures based on waqf in Saudi Arabia, Singapore, and Indonesia.
“The rich are preserved in honor, authority, and property with waqf,” he said. (Dompet Dhuafa / Muthohar)
