BOGOR — Welcoming Ramadan 1444 H, Kampoeng Silat Jampang Madina Zone held a workshop on Pisau Raut Weapon (a Dayak whittling-knife that serves as a tool to prepare the rattan) on Saturday (11/03/2023). This event was held at Pendopo Kampoeng Silat Jampang, Madina Zone, Jampang, Kemang, Bogor.
The speakers who presented at this workshop were M.A. Osali Noor or familiarly called Anang, as Guru Besar Pencak Silat Si Kelabang Tenabang and also Herman Budianto as Chairman of Kampoeng Silat Jampang.
M.A. Osali Noor explained that the pisau raut (whittling knife) weapon he used in the workshop had been used at Perguruan Silat Si Kelabang Tenabang for the past two or three years, as a basis for the science of playing with knives. In addition, he also introduced the whittling knife as a weapon used for self-defense, not for attack.

Furthermore, Anang also explained that this knife weapon was used in Betawi culture and also Pasundan, so that many silat universities in these regions also presented the whittling knife weapon.
“We hope they also create this whittling knife training, because there must be a difference,” he said.
“We introduced the whittling knife weapon as a means of defense or the basis for playing with knives. The tradition of the whittling knife has also come from a long time ago, so I will try to introduce it,” he continued.
After that, Anang introduced the types of whittling knives, one of which came from various regions, such as Parung. He also demonstrated several moves and practiced by silat activists who attended this event.
This Pisau Raut Weapon Workshop is part of Tarhib Ramadan, especially for teachers and silat fighters in welcoming Ramadan 1444 H. Of course, with the hope that in the holy month they can try to worship as well as possible and can optimize all the good deeds done.
