OGAN ILIR, SOUTH SUMATRA — The onset of the new year has not marked a significant shift for the inhabitants of Gaza, Palestine. As of Tuesday (9/1/2024), the relentless oppression by Israel in this sacred land of three major religions persists. The Israeli siege of Gaza, which commenced on October 7, 2023, has claimed the lives of ten thousands, including journalists, spanning a grim duration of 96 days.
Despite nearly three months having elapsed, global solidarity with Palestine, including support from the Indonesian populace, remains unwavering. Far from fading, the collective voice of support has only intensified, with humanitarian aid continuously being mobilized. Communities worldwide, including the Tarbiyah Syamilah congregations in Ogan Ilir and Palembang, are banding together in solidarity movements. This commitment was showcased during the 21st Grand Study Session at As Sayyidah Mosque in Tanjung Baru Petai, Tanjung Batu, Ogan Ilir, South Sumatra, on Monday (1/1/2024).
