Makassar, South Sulawesi — Celebrating the 355th Anniversary of South Sulawesi Province in a new style. The excitement of this anniversary celebration comes wrapped in humanitarian solidarity in collaboration with Dompet Dhuafa and the South Sulawesi Provincial Government. In the plan of activities held by the South Sulawesi Provincial Government, there was the Mandala Festival 2024 ‘Sound of Humanity’ which was held at the Mandala Monument Courtyard, Makassar, last Saturday (12/10/2024) night. The “Sound of Humanity” charity concert was a form of support for the struggle and concern of the Indonesian people for the Palestinian people.
Secretary of South Sulawesi, Jufri Rahman said, “This event is a charity concert to support the Palestinian cause. Friends from Dompet Dhuafa South Sulawesi in collaboration with UPT Mandala Monument with the support of the Department of Industry and Trade, as well as the Department of Culture and Tourism, initiated the charity concert. Earlier the Governor had set an example for us to donate, OPD friends also donated. Yes, hopefully activities like this will continue to run”.
The humanitarian charity concert for the Palestinian people and the people of South Sulawesi was attended by the Acting Governor of South Sulawesi Prof. Zudan Arief Fakrulloh, Regional Secretary of South Sulawesi Province Jufri Rahman, Acting Chairperson of the South Sulawesi PKK Movement Team Ninuk Triyanti Zudan, Chairperson of the South Sulawesi Dharma Wanita Persatuan (DWP) Melani Simon, and a number of Heads of Regional Apparatus Organizations (OPD) within the scope of the South Sulawesi Provincial Government, as well as Dompet Dhuafa South Sulawesi Branch Manager Pandu Heru Satrio.
On this occasion, Jufri Rahman also explained that together we must understand the war that occurred in Palestine. The war is not a religious conflict, but a conflict related to humanity. That way, the effort to organize this charity concert is a form of concern based on Ukhuwah Insaniyah or brotherhood of fellow human beings.
“We must not leave the Palestinian people alone. But we must understand that the Palestinian war is not a religious war. It is a matter of humanity. Because, the people there are also Christians who are victims. It must also be understood that what we need is what the Governor said earlier. That we are united by Ukhuwah Islamiyah (brotherhood among Muslims), Ukhuwah Wathaniyah (brotherhood among children of the nation), and Ukhuwah insaniyah (brotherhood among humans). So, maybe when we talk about Palestine, it is more about ukhuwah insaniyah,” he said.
The event not only marked the 355th anniversary of South Sulawesi, but also marked the one-year anniversary of the Israeli genocide against Palestine. Thousands of lives were lost, and thousands were displaced. There are limitations in many ways. This includes basic access to services such as health, education, clean water, food, shelter, and other important aspects.
