Medical Volunteer: Not Satisfied If I Haven’t Helped All Survivors.

CIANJUR, WEST JAVA — Lusinda Pebrian (24), one of Dompet Dhuafa‘s medical volunteers in accelerating the handling of the Cianjur earthquake, shared her experience treating survivors in Cianjur. He is a native of Cianjur. Even though he is not a survivor, he can feel the suffering of Cianjur residents affected by the earthquake that occurred last Monday (21/11/2022).

But it is a different story for his brother in Sarapad Village. His brother is currently taking refuge in his house, which is far from the point of the earthquake damage.

“The family is safe because they are far from the earthquake point. But relatives in Sarampad Village are currently taking refuge in my house,” he added on Saturday (03/12/2022).

During her time as a medical volunteer for Dompet Dhuafa, she has often seen the wounds and sorrows experienced by survivors. She was starting from broken bones, swelling, and other conditions. So this made him even more enthusiastic about helping his brothers and sisters in Cianjur.

“Because of the call of humanity, I feel even more moved,” she said.

She said the condition of the survivors was still traumatized. Some of them still feel anxious as a result of aftershocks, high-intensity rain, and others. But on the one hand, she saw survivors feel helped by Dompet Dhuafa’s medical services.

She is very concerned about the condition of the survivors’ houses, which are damaged, and they must live in evacuation posts. They must survive in limited and makeshift conditions. But thanks to the help of humanitarian volunteers, at least in difficult times like this, they can still survive and go through difficult times.

“Seeing the broken condition of the house and the power outages. I was compassionate to feel in that position: how does it feel to be left by their parents? I am very concerned when I see children whose parents have died,” he explained, trying to remember.

In concluding the conversation with Lusinda, he still hopes his hard work and enthusiasm can help all the survivors. In this way, the people of Cianjur can face life bravely and as they should.

“I’m not satisfied if I haven’t helped all the survivors,” Lusinda cheered. (Dompet Dhuafa / DMC)
