JAKARTA — Dompet Dhuafa is dispatching a humanitarian team to the Rafah Border in Egypt as an effort to monitor donations from the Indonesian community entrusted through Dompet Dhuafa, ensuring they reach the Palestinian people. The departure from Soekarno-Hatta Airport was marked by Rahmad Riyadi, the Chairman of the Dompet Dhuafa Foundation, who bid farewell to the three-member humanitarian team on Friday, November 17, 2023, in South Jakarta.
During his speech at the farewell event, Rahmad emphasized that Dompet Dhuafa must ensure that the trust placed by the Indonesian community is fully delivered to the rightful recipients, these are the survivors of the escalation of tensions between Israel and Palestine in the Gaza Strip, Palestine.
“Through our partner network there, Dompet Dhuafa has already sent aid (collected from the Indonesian community). This is an effort to oversee the assistance to ensure it meets expectations. It’s also part of our communication. We have also sent aid yesterday along with the government’s assistance,” he explained.

Currently, the mission of the Dompet Dhuafa humanitarian team does not necessarily include entering Palestine or the Gaza Strip. Essentially, the team’s task is to ensure that the aid is carried by partners from the Rafah Border into the Gaza Strip. This includes the aid shipments dispatched by Indonesian President Jokowi on November 4, 2023.
Furthermore, the departure of the humanitarian team to the Rafah Border also serves as a means of communication and documentation. Additionally, Dompet Dhuafa aims to strengthen its partnership network with local parties. Dompet Dhuafa has previously undertaken similar humanitarian missions in the Gaza Strip, establishing a trustworthy partnership with local NGOs.

“What we all need to realize is that we must know who is donating and to whom the aid is being distributed. This is our effort to continuously improve Good Governance at Dompet Dhuafa, so we can be accountable,” Rahmad advised the dozens of Dompet Dhuafa members present at the farewell event.
The dispatched team members requested support and prayers from the entire community for the smooth progress of this mission. They hope that the tensions resulting in the loss of many lives will end soon, allowing our brothers and sisters in Palestine and beyond to live a dignified life as Allah teaches His servants to always create compassion towards the universe.
