Lampung: The Amil Zakat Institute Dompet Dhuafa Lampung and the Association of Breastfeeding Mothers (AIMI) Lampung Region launched the Nutrition Awareness Movement Program (GENZI). The launch of this program took place in Sukadadi Village, Gedong Tataan District, Pesawaran Regency, Lampung, on Thursday (22/12/2022). This program was done as an effort to overcome and prevent cases of stunting or failure to thrive alias stunting in Lampung Province.
“The main target of the GENZI program is children under five who have nutritional problems or are at risk of stunting. They all come from underprivileged families who are deserving and need help,” said the Head of the Dompet Dhuafa Lampung Branch, Yogi Achmad Fajar, in his remarks.
Furthermore, Yogi said one of the implementations of the GENZI program was by presenting the GENZI base. The post benefits 15 children under five who are stunted and at risk of stunting.
Through the GENZI base, children and their mothers will receive nutritious food for 12 consecutive days. They will also receive education and outreach regarding a healthy lifestyle and nutritional food intake by health cadres prepared by AIMI Lampung Region.
“It is hoped that the assistance from the cadres from AIMI Lampung colleagues can have a significant impact after being assisted for these 12 days,” hoped Yogi.
The GENZI program has received appreciation and support from various parties, such as the Sukadadi Village Government, the Panca Bhakti Stikes, and the Gedong Tataan Health Center. They participate in the success of the program.
The Chairperson of AIMI Lampung Region, Upi Fitriyanti, appreciated the collaborative program implemented by Dompet Dhuafa Lampung and AIMI Lampung Region. According to him, Dompet Dhuafa Lampung and AIMI Lampung Region have the same passion for empowering women.
“The GENZI program is extraordinary, especially since it was launched to coincide with Mother’s Day. The theme of commemorating Mother’s Day this year is ‘Empowered Indonesian Women Forward’. Through this program, Dompet Dhuafa Lampung has supported the vision and mission of AIMI Lampung Region to empower breastfeeding mothers. This is good, especially for mothers from the lower middle class (dhuafa), with an educational process provided by Cadres and Management of AIMI Lampung Region for 12 consecutive days,” said Upi.
The plan is that in the early stages, as many as 30 toddlers and their mothers will benefit from the GENZI Base program in two districts in Lampung Province. At the launch of the GENZI program, 35 pregnant women were also given a nutritional assistance package for pregnant women to prevent stunting.
