GUNUNG KIDUL, YOGYAKARTA — Together with Dompet Dhuafa Yogyakarta’s entourage, Mr Jarwo and Benu Buloe flocked to ‘Grebek Kampung’ Ramadan 1445 H in Katongan Village, Nglipar, Gunung Kidul, Wednesday (20/3/2024). The musician and culinary host of Kompas TV’s Cerita Rasa programme, along with Dompet Dhuafa’s entourage, also brought ‘offerings’ in the form of farming products from Dompet Dhuafa Yogyakarta’s Zakat Management Partner (MPZ), namely KyBar Tani Mandiri for food ingredients that will be processed together by Katongan villagers as a menu for breaking the fast together.
Katongan villagers welcomed the arrival of Dompet Dhuafa’s ‘Grebek Kampung’ group that afternoon. They worked together to prepare and cook together in the Aloe Land Education Village area, a cultivation area and industrial house for aloe vera plants, which is an economic empowerment programme that grows with the synergy of Dompet Dhuafa Yogyakarta’s productive zakat management with stakeholders.

Yes, ‘Grebek Kampung’ is Dompet Dhuafa’s effort in the month of Ramadan to educate the community about the role of Zakat, Infaq and Waqf (Ziswaf) in the form of economic empowerment programmes such as cultivating aloe vera plants in that place. To always build and maintain the empowerment of the poor and underprivileged communities is Dompet Dhuafa’s big dream in managing Ziswaf funds.
While Benu Buloe was busy cooking with local residents, Mr Jarwo had the opportunity to explore the activities of the aloe vera plant industry house which has the brand ‘Rasane Vera’ in Aloe Land. Starting from harvesting, processing, to packaging. In addition, Mr Jarwo also went door-to-door to help distribute Ramadan Parcels containing basic food packages and Tebar Zakat Fitrah (TZF) rice.
Ibu Jainem, an elderly beneficiary and widow, was touched by the arrival of Mr Jarwo and Dompet Dhuafa who distributed Ramadan Parcels for her.
‘At that time, my late husband had an accident and had to be treated at a high cost, we couldn’t afford it. I live here with my children, grandchildren, and my son’s husband. He is a labourer making vermicelli noodles,’ she told Mr Jarwo.
‘Alhamdulillah, the blessing of Ramadan is that I got a lot of groceries, now everything is expensive. Thank you, let it be a reward for all of you,’ Jainem admitted, smiling.

During Ramadan, ‘Grebek Kampung’ is one of Dompet Dhuafa’s efforts to maximise collaboration. In it, there are also a variety of holistic activities ranging from TZF, distribution of Ramadan Parcels for orphans and honorary teachers, Sharing Breaking the Fast Together and Religious Studies, held on the agenda. ‘Grebek Kampung this time, together with and enlivened by various activities, one of which is the performance of musician Mr Jarwo and the host of the culinary show Cerita Rasa Kompas TV, Benu Buloe. The presence of Grebek Kampung is expected to encourage and increase public literacy about the benefits of Ziswaf fund management. Because the proper management of Ziswaf will foster an MSME-based empowerment economy and da’wah in an effort to equalise community welfare,’ said Muhammad Zahron as Branch Manager of Dompet Dhuafa Yogyakarta.
After it was time for religious studies to welcome breaking the fast together, after the Tarawih prayer, Mr Jarwo NAIF’s performance enlivened Grebek Kampung by performing his hit songs such as ‘Titipan Sahabat’. The song encourages people to help each other in kindness and honour orphans with Dompet Dhuafa.
‘Thank you for the people of Nglipar, Gunung Kidul, especially Karang Taruna Dusun Jeruk Legi who enlivened our performance tonight. I am very impressed to see firsthand the variety of Dompet Dhuafa programmes with qualified Ziswaf governance. So that it grows programmes such as Aloe Vera Land as well as Ketaman (Community Food Security) Kybar Tani Mandiri. I am also impressed to be able to directly distribute Ramadan Parcels and TZF to the people here,’ Mr Jarwo admitted.
In addition to ‘Grebek Kampung’, Dompet Dhuafa’s efforts to reach the target of one million beneficiaries in Ramadan 1445 H also presents a variety of other programmes that continue to be rolled out such as Free Mudik, Mudik Post, Fidyah, Sahur Package Sharing, Qur’an Alms, Orphan Alms, Ramadan Parcels, THR Family Fighters, Tebar Takjil, Borong Dagang, Alms for Worship Tools to Ramadan Aid in Palestine.

Dompet Dhuafa Yogyakarta Branch as the host of ‘Grebek Kampung’, also continues to invite the local community to channel the goodness of Ziswaf through counters spread across Yogyakarta.
